A spin-off of ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ ABC’s ‘Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro’ is a reality dance competition show created by Conrad Green. It brings together 12 talented and up-and-coming professional dancers who stay under the same roof and go head-to-head against one another in a grueling audition process. As they live and train together, drama and competition rise between them and they are pushed to the extreme.
By showcasing their dancing skills to the judges — Mark Ballas and his mother, Shirley Ballas — the dancers hope to book their coveted pro dancer spot on the 35th season of ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ Hosted by ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 34 Len Goodman Mirrorball Champion and a wildlife conservationist, Robert Irwin, the intense competition takes place on a stage and the Queensland Ballet facility, where the competitors practice their craft.
Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro Filming Locations
The shooting for ‘Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro’ takes place in Australia, especially in Brisbane and Sydney. According to reports, principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the spin-off series got underway in late February 2026 and wrapped up after about three months in May of the same year. The production reportedly contributed about $7.2 million to the economy of Australia and employed around 110 local cast and crew members.

A major chunk of ‘Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro’ was reportedly lensed in the city of Brisbane. To be specific, the Thomas Dixon Centre at 406 Montague Road in the West End suburb of Brisbane served as the primary production location for the reality series. Also known as the home of Queensland Ballet, the heritage-listed former factory offers a creative space for rehearsals, meetings, performances, and workshops. Besides being a venue for the performing arts, it also serves as an ideal place to host corporate events, private celebrations, and wedding ceremonies.

Additional portions for the ABC production were also taped in Sydney, the capital of Australia’s New South Wales. As per reports, the cast and crew members set up camp at Disney Studios Australia, located in Building 16 at 38 Driver Avenue in the suburb of Moore Park. The film studio offers a total of nine different sound stages, production offices, water tank facilities, and various exterior filming locations, such as purpose-built studios, heritage buildings, and backlot areas.
