Where Was Eat Pray Bark Filmed?

In Netflix’s ‘Eat Pray Bark,’ we get acquainted with five dog owners from different walks of life with one common objective — to seek help training their dogs to be obedient. Having tried several things to achieve that, they end up in the Tyrolean mountains, where they sign up their four-legged friends for an intensive training course with the charismatic yet infamous dog trainer, Nodon. The motley crew of dog owners includes optimist Babs with her large dog, Torsten; dog-hating politician Ursula, who recently adopted Brenda for her image; and couple Ziggy and Helmut with their spoiled Yorkshire Terrier, Gaga.

The group also includes a distant lone wolf named Hakan, who has trust issues with his insecure Belgian Shepherd, Roxy. As the unconventional training sessions begin, Nodon realizes that the four-legged companions aren’t the ones who need help, but their two-legged owners themselves. Directed by Marco Petry, the German comedy movie is brought to life by the hilarious performances from Alexandra Maria Lara, Devid Striesow, Rúrik Gíslason, Anna Herrmann, Doğa Gürer, and Kerim Waller, against the breathtaking backdrop of the lush green mountainous region.

Eat Pray Bark Filming Locations

The shooting for ‘Eat Pray Bark’ took place in Austria, particularly in the state of Tyrol. According to reports, principal photography for the comedy film got underway around late August 2024 and went on for less than two months before wrapping up in October of the same year. Upon the conclusion of production, Rúrik Gíslason, who portrays Nodon, shared his experience of filming in Austria. Expressing gratitude about same, he stated, “IT’S A WRAP! 🥳🎥🥳🎬 Two months in incredibly beautiful Tirol have come to an end after an amazing time with wonderful people! Filming, training, driving around, eating great food and having fun with people that brought so much joy to the project.”

Tyrol, Austria

Dominated by high mountain ranges, Tyrol served as the ideal production location for filling the visual canvas of ‘Eat Pray Bark.’ For a significant part, the filming unit set up camp in and around the old farming village of Seefeld, located in the state’s Innsbruck-Land District. Several mountain ranges surround the village, including the Wetterstein and the Karwendel, which seemingly appear in the backdrop of several exterior scenes. In the market town of Telfs, the cast and crew members were spotted taping a few portions around the lake of Lottensee. The production team of ‘Eat Pray Bark’ also utilized the scenic terrains of the municipality of Silz, located in the Imst district.

In the first week of October 2024, they taped various night action scenes out in the cold in Silz. Kerim Waller, who plays the role of Hakan, took to social media and elaborated on the same. “The second night out in the cold, stuck in a wetsuit, a package of Camel blue and a stomach full of medicine, my feet slowly swollen, my back being dragged into the depths of the mud. I need to pee. It’s a night full of action. Not for me but @alexandramarialara, a brave and strong woman whose positive energy and professionalism is intoxicating,” he said. Apart from the German comedy, Tyrol has hosted the production of multiple movies, including ‘As It Is in Heaven,’ ‘Sissi,’ ‘Echo Park,’ ‘Matti: Hell Is for Heroes,’ and ‘Nothing Left – Just That Summer.’
