Created by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, ‘Fallout’ is a post-apocalyptic drama series based on the eponymous video game franchise. Set a couple of centuries after the Great War of 2077, the second season picks up right after the events of the debut season’s finale. It follows Lucy MacLean in a new set of adventures across the wasteland of the Mojave. She makes her way through post-nuclear America and travels all the way to New Vegas. Featuring a talented ensemble cast comprising Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, Xelia Mendes-Jones, and Walton Goggins, the action thriller series is set mainly in New Vegas, which is based on the video game ‘Fallout: New Vegas,’ as its barren and ruined landscape shapes the visual aspect of the entire narrative.
Fallout Season 2 Filming Locations
The shooting for ‘Fallout’ season 2 took place primarily in California, especially in Los Angeles. According to reports, principal photography for the sophomore round of the action-adventure series reportedly got underway in November 2024. A couple of months into the production, the production was paused for a while due to the wildfires in January 2025. Several weeks later, shooting resumed and continued for a few more months before wrapping up in May of the same year.
Los Angeles, California
Almost the entirety of ‘Fallout’ season 2 was lensed in and around the sprawling city of Los Angeles, which is situated in Southern California. In order to bring the fictional post-apocalyptic New Vegas Strip to life, the production team set up camp at a section of the Valley Plaza mall, specifically at 6355 Bellingham Avenue, in the North Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles. They transformed the space by adding signage for several sites, such as Vault 21, the Lucky 38 casino, and the Ultra-Luxe. The area was opened in 1951, and in the mid-1950s, it was considered the largest shopping center on the West Coast.
One of the many film studios located in and around the City of Angels, including Warner Bros. Studio, Studios 60, Los Angeles Center Studios, and Sunset Studios, also possibly served as a prominent production location for the second season of the video game-based series. During the shooting process, they also reportedly built a set resembling Freeside. In March 2025, the cast and crew members taped pivotal indoor sequences in the sets of Camp McCarran. Several streets and neighborhoods of LA were redressed to depict the post-apocalyptic settings consistently present throughout the season.
Apart from ‘Fallout’ season 2, the city of Los Angeles and its surrounding areas have hosted the production of many movies, including ‘Avatar: The Way of Water,’ ‘The Polar Express,’ ‘Good Fortune,’ ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,’ ‘How to Train Your Dragon,’ ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,’ ‘Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire,’ and more. Some of the notable TV shows shot in and around LA include ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer,’ ‘House of the Dragon,’ ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Teen Wolf,’ ‘The Santa Clauses,’ and ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch.’
