Created by Nick Santora, Netflix’s ‘FUBAR’ is an action comedy series starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role of a veteran CIA operative named Luke Brunner. In the first season, he receives a mission that involves rescuing another operative, who turns out to be his daughter, Emma. Luke’s espionage adventure continues in the second season as he faces new challenges in the form of a past lover named Greta Nelso, who makes it her mission to destroy the world. Season 2 of the spy thriller show unfolds in several familiar settings, but also introduces the viewers to a bunch of fresh backdrops in order to keep up with the changes in Luke’s life.
FUBAR Season 2 Filming Locations
The production of the second season of ‘FUBAR’ was carried out in Ontario and the Czech Republic, particularly the Greater Toronto Area, Elora, London, Hamilton, as well as Prague. According to reports, principal photography for the sophomore round got underway in late April 2024 under the working title ‘Oink’ and continued for about four months before getting wrapped up in late August of the same year. After the production of season 2 concluded, one of the makeup artists, Heather Hollett French, took to social media and expressed her gratitude. She stated, “That’s a wrap on Fubar season 2! Greater Toronto Area, Ontario
A major part of the filming of ‘FUBAR’ season 2 took place in multiple spots in the Greater Toronto Area in the province of Ontario. To be specific, the production team chose the services and facilities of Pinewood Toronto Studios, the iconic film and television complex at 225 Commissioners Street, Suite 203 in Toronto, to tape several sequences of the espionage thriller. In July 2024, the cast and crew also moved southwest of Toronto to Mississauga, where a few scenes were shot at an outlet of the famous pizza chain, Chuck E Cheese, at 2945 Argentia Road. Additionally, the Cornerstone Church, located in the neighbourhood of Meadowvale in the northwestern portion of the city, also hosted the shooting.
For the purpose of filming the second season, the unit also settled on Port Credit, a seaside community nestled on Lake Ontario’s north shore in the south-central Mississauga. Renowned for its rich history and culture, the celebrated waterfront neighborhood offers a perfect blend of old-world architecture with a vibrant contemporary aesthetic. A couple of scenes of ‘FUBAR’ season 2 feature the interiors of the Secondary School, which is precisely situated at 70 Mineola Road East, just north of Port Credit.
Other Locations in Ontario
Aside from the aforementioned locations in the nation’s most multicultural urban centre, the filming of ‘FUBAR’ was also conducted at other locations in the province. A few sequences were lensed in the quaint riverside community of Elora in Centre Wellington (or Wellington County) township. The cast and crew members gathered in Hoffer Park at 78 Margaret Street in Elora. As per reports, the outdoor recreational area is now permanently closed. The team also utilized the area around Geddes Street and converted the town hall into the Heritage Museum & Cultural Center in the last week of April 2024. In addition to that, the production team decked 1 MacDonald Square with American flags as well as US Postal Service signs in order to transform it into an American spot to complement the setting of the show.
Sometime in mid-July, the charming community of Mount Hope in the city of Hamilton was visited by the cast and crew members of the show. In particular, they set up camp at John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport at 9300 Airport Road #2206 in Mount Hope. Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger was spotted in an on-site hangar, showcasing his acting chops as Luke Brunner. The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum at 9280 Airport Road also doubled up as a shooting site within the airport. Another filming location for ‘FUBAR’ season 2 is the city of London in southwestern Ontario.
In August, the team recorded a few shots at Fanshawe Lake as well as Fanshawe Conservation Area at 1424 Clarke Road. A lot of on-site preparations and internal discussions were involved before it was ultimately decided to shoot at these spots. Since the location was chosen to film sequences featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character Luke Brunner, the producers, directors, as well as the production team, especially personnel from the stunt, logistical, safety, and set design departments, set up a meeting with the staff of the Conservation Area to discuss the details of the filming and clear doubts related to the site. Prague, Czech Republic
The last leg of filming of the second installment of ‘FUBAR’ reportedly took place in the city of Prague in the Czech Republic. In the month of September 2024, the production team flew to the capital city in the heart of Europe and recorded multiple scenes at various locales across the region. The cobblestoned streets, iconic attractions, and the medieval architecture of the historic Old Town Square make an appearance in the high-octane action show. According to reports, shooting especially took place in many places in and around the Old Town, such as Dušní, Bílkova, Kozí, Haštalská, Široká, Vězeňská, and Pařížská streets.
Furthermore, Obecní Dům at Náměstí Republiky 5 near Powder Gate is also a filming location of the show. Decked with Art Nouveau architecture, the civic building is home to the renowned concert venue. A few other places that were utilized to paint the visual canvas of the action thriller series are the streets of Revoluční, Králodvorská, U Obecního domu, and Petrská, as well as the historical area of Těšnov. The city center of Prague also served as a filming site for Amazon Prime’s ‘Jack Ryan’ or ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.’
