Where is Ginny & Georgia Filmed? Filming Locations of the Netflix Show

Created by Sarah Lampert, Netflix’s comedy drama series ‘Ginny & Georgia’ explores the lives of thirty-year-old Georgia Miller and her fifteen-year-old daughter Ginny as the duo tries to make the picturesque town of Wellsbury their home and give their lives a fresh start. However, Georgia’s turbulent past seems to keep them from attaining a peaceful life. The third season of the show picks up right where the second season left off, showing how the young mom deals with her arrest on suspicion of murdering Tom Fuller. Meanwhile, Ginny faces new obstacles and navigates new relationships while being constantly targeted for her mother’s bust. Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry return to lead the cast, alongside Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Diesel La Torraca, Jennifer Robertson, and Scott Porter. With new developments taking shape, Season 3 takes viewers back to Wellsbury, offering fresh and familiar backdrops.

Ginny & Georgia Filming Locations

‘Ginny & Georgia’ is filmed entirely in Ontario, specifically in Cobourg and Toronto, both of which doubled for the fictional town of Wellsbury in Massachusetts. The first two seasons were also filmed in these locations. Principal photography of the third season began towards the end of April 2024 and continued for several weeks before wrapping up in mid-September the same year. While Cobourg became the base for outdoor scenes, the crew used Toronto for indoor shots and additional scenes.

Cobourg, Ontario

Cobourg, located in Northumberland County, was used to lens the majority of the outdoor scenes set in Wellsbury. The production team used the town extensively to give proper shape to the “idyllic” world Ginny and Georgia are a part of. While the exteriors of various buildings became those of houses and other structures in the show, American flags were put up in various areas, and decals were used to transform Canadian mailboxes into American ones. The project was carried out in collaboration with the Town of Cobourg and the Downtown Business Improvement Area (DBIA). The crew worked directly with the Cobourg police to ensure safety protocols and regulate traffic.

Several outdoor scenes were filmed in Downtown Cobourg, especially on King Street. The EL, a restaurant at 74 King Street West, was transformed into Blue Farm Café. Victoria Hall, a 19th-century building that serves as the Town Hall of Cobourg, was used only for exterior shots, doubling as Wellsbury Town Hall. Numerous roads and streets, including Third Street between King Street and Albert Street, and King Street West between Hibernia Street and Third Street, as well as sidewalks and storefronts, were used for traveling shots. The exterior of William Academy, situated at 135 King Street West, and the surrounding area became the backdrop for additional scenes. The crew also accessed Victoria Park at 38 Division Street to tape a few shots. Audrey’s In Town Fashion, a women’s clothing store located at 19 King Street West, is a real store that has been used without any alteration for some scenes. A total of around 120 crew members and 45 background performers were involved in the production. Forty production trucks were brought in for the swift transfer of filming equipment from one location to another.

Cobourg offers a perfect mix of small-town serenity and urban amenities, something that enabled the crew to give Wellsbury a distinct charm. Be it the sandy shores, the panoramic view of Lake Ontario, or the waterfront boardwalk, which spans from Ontario Street to Hibernia Street, the town offers visitors a relaxing escape from daily life. For people who are into exploration, Cobourg boasts the Art Gallery of Northumberland, Cobourg Marina, Cobourg East Pierhead Lighthouse, Burnham Family Farm Market, and Moore Orchards.

Toronto, Ontario

For many interior scenes of ‘Ginny & Georgia,’ the crew set up shop in Toronto’s TriBro Studios. Located at 6 Curity Avenue, the studio has three customizable sound stages totaling 51,000 square feet, state-of-the-art LED lighting, 12,000 square feet of production office space, and a highly skilled team. It is one of the fastest-growing studios in Toronto and proudly contributes to the city’s reputation as a global production hub. Many episodes of ‘Killjoys’ and ‘Mistletoe Murders’ were also filmed at TriBro Studios.

Several outdoor scenes and establishing shots were also lensed in Toronto. The Baby Point residential neighborhood, including Baby Point Crescent, doubles for the area where Ginny and Georgia’s home is located. While the house at 46 Baby Point Crescent became the new home of the titular duo, the house at 45 Baby Point Crescent doubled for Marcus and Ellen’s residence. Etienne Brulé Park, named after European explorer Étienne Brûlé, located north of Bloor Street West, became the backdrop for several additional shots. In the administrative district of North York, the crew used the now-defunct Nelson A. Boylen Collegiate Institute at 155 Falstaff Avenue as Wellsbury High School. The EZ Lube Automobile Service, located at 278 Old Kingston Road, in the district of Scarborough, was reportedly used to tape a few shots as well.

Toronto, along with Vancouver, is referred to as Hollywood North, due to its reputation as one of the largest production bases across the world. Numerous studios with top-notch services, tax incentives, and scenic natural and urban backdrops, all these aspects have made the city a go-to filming location for international projects. Some of them are ‘Bet,’ ‘Fear Street: Prom Queen,’ ‘Motorheads,’ and ‘Murderbot.’ For the tourist in you, Toronto offers landmarks and spots like the CN Tower, Humber Bay Arch Bridge, Royal Ontario Museum, Scarborough Bluffs, Queen’s Park, Toronto Sign, and City Hall.
