Where Was Goodbye June Filmed? All Shooting Locations

Kate Winslet’s directorial debut, Netflix’s ‘Goodbye June,’ navigates the complicated family dynamics between four adult siblings, their father, and their ailing mother. The Christmas family drama movie revolves around the sudden deterioration in the health of the matriarch, June, who gets hospitalized during the holiday season. As a result, her adult children, Julia, Molly, Helen, and Connor, and the father of her children, Bernie, are forced to reunite despite their fractured relationship with each other.

As June faces potential death, her family gathers around her hospital bed as they try their best to set their differences aside and collectively be there for her. During her final moments, the dying mother forces the four siblings and their father to get into some tough conversations and explore their complicated family dynamics. Featuring a talented ensemble cast comprising Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, Helen Mirren, and Kate Winslet, the drama unfolds primarily inside the hospital, which serves as the driving force to explore themes of family, reconciliation, and grief.

Goodbye June Filming Locations

‘Goodbye June’ was filmed in its entirety in England, particularly in and around London. According to reports, principal photography for the Netflix production got underway around mid-March 2025 and went on for about 35 shooting days before wrapping up around late April or early May of the same year. During the shooting process, the filming unit reportedly worked with a small crew and a limited budget.

London, England

All the pivotal sequences for ‘Goodbye June’ were lensed across the capital of the United Kingdom and England — London. In order to tape the scenes set in the Princess Mary Cheltenham Hospital, the production team utilized the campus of St. Mary’s University on Waldegrave Road in Twickenham, near Teddington. To be specific, various buildings and corridors were transformed to depict the fictional hospital by adding a Main Entrance Sign, fake snow, hospital beds and equipment, and more. Since it was her first time directing, Kate Winslet thought about not doing anything clever.

Elaborating on the production process, she told IndieWire, “The most important thing was the trust. We all worked together closely for an intense week of rehearsal, during which time I cooked meals at my kitchen table, and we shared stories. When you establish a space that is entirely bound up on trust and discretion, there’s a code of silence that you wrap around one another that becomes a security blanket.” The filming unit of ‘Goodbye June’ also set up camp at Garden Studios at 21 Waxlow Road in London. As per reports, most of the set scenes and car driving scenes were recorded at the film studio, which is home to eight sound stages of different sizes.

In particular, the Orchid Stage 1 and Virtual Production Stage were utilized to bring the familial tale to life. Expressing her gratitude towards the film studios, director Kate Winslet told Cinematography World, “The experience I had on Goodbye June would not have been possible without the wonderful support of the entire team at Garden Studios. Their willingness to accommodate the requirements of our cast and crew was outstanding, especially given the limited budget we had and with so many of us! They simply made it a joy to come to work every single day.”

In response, Debbie Adler, Head of Commercial and Marketing at Garden Studios, stated, “Garden Studios is proud to have served as a home base for Kate Winslet and her phenomenal production team and crew. We are passionate about supporting independent films, and this was a perfect example of how staying flexible, transparent, and client-centric creates a great environment for everyone involved.” Besides sound stages, Garden Studios is also home to 38,000 square feet of office space, a wide range of workshop spaces, and a state-of-the-art virtual production studio, all of which allowed the drama movie to be shot in a controlled environment. Apart from ‘Goodbye June,’ London has served as a filming location for many movies and TV shows over the years, including ‘Love Actually,’ ‘Sense and Sensibility,’ ‘After the Hunt,’ ‘Eyes Wide Shut,’ ‘A Very Jonas Christmas Movie,’ ‘Don’t Look Up,’ ‘Death in Paradise,’ ‘His Dark Materials,’ and ‘Call the Midwife.’
