Downs, and Jen Statsky, HBO Max’s ‘Hacks’ is a comedy-drama series that revolves around a successful stand-up comedian named Deborah Vance and her evolving professional relationship with her writer, Ava Daniels, whom she hires to improve her material. In season 5, the comedian is enjoying the success of her stand-up special, while the writer is seeking new opportunities for her own career in Los Angeles.
With the dynamics between the two women going through ups and downs, they end up returning to Las Vegas as Deborah aims to secure her legacy as a comedian. Starring Jean Smart, Hannah Einbinder, Paul W. Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, and Rose Abdoo, the comedic tale of season 5 unfolds in several familiar places and quite a few fresh backdrops, adding more intrigue and depth to the visual aspects of the Emmy Award-winning series.
Hacks Season 5 Filming Locations
Production on ‘Hacks’ season 5 took place in California, Nevada, New York, and France, particularly in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York City, and Paris. According to reports, principal photography for the fifth and final iteration of the comedy series got underway in September 2025 and seemingly concluded in February 2026. Mai Knighten, one of the extras who appear in season 5, took to social media and shared her experience of being a part of the production, stating, “Met Some Wonderful People on the Set of Hacks Today And Filmed directly in the Shot with the Main Actors Jean Smart, Hannah Einbinder and Mark Indelicato!!!”
Los Angeles County, California
Although a majority of the show’s fifth season is set in Las Vegas, Nevada, a significant chunk of it was lensed in Los Angeles County. Unfortunately, the house that doubled as Deborah’s home in ‘Hacks’ was destroyed in the LA fires in January 2025. From what we can tell, the production team utilized the facilities and space of the Universal Studios Lot at 100 Universal City Plaza in Universal City, an unincorporated area in the San Fernando Valley. Home to more than 30 state-of-the-art sound stages, the film studio also boasts more than 30 versatile backlot locations, including New York City streets, cobblestone streets of Europe, Western streets, and more. It also offers dressing rooms, production offices, rehearsal halls, and other amenities necessary for all kinds of projects.
Las Vegas, Nevada
Several pivotal sequences for ‘Hacks’ season 5 were taped on location in Las Vegas, the seat of Nevada’s Clark County. As per reports, the cast and crew members were spotted shooting several scenes around Caesars Palace at 3570 South Las Vegas Boulevard in Paradise, a town adjacent to Las Vegas. In addition, the 5-star hotel, Bellagio Hotel & Casino at 3600 South Las Vegas Boulevard in Las Vegas, also features in a few portions. Multiple other buildings and establishments on the popular Las Vegas Strip make appearances in the fifth and final season.
New York City, New York
For the purpose of shooting, the cast and crew members also traveled to the Big Apple. They took over several bustling streets and neighborhoods of NYC, where they taped numerous important scenes for the show’s last season. You are likely to spot multiple iconic landmarks and buildings in the backdrop of exterior or establishing shots, including the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the Verrazzano–Narrows Bridge.
Paris, France
Additional portions for ‘Hacks’ season 5 were also filmed in the capital of France, Paris. Some of the last scenes of the show were reportedly shot in and around the Louvre Museum, popular for housing celebrated paintings like the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci. The filming unit also set up camp in the historic district of the Marais to tape a few key scenes. Apart from the Jean Smart starrer, Paris has served as a production location for many movies and TV shows, including ‘The Drama,’ ‘The Devil Wears Prada,’ ‘The Intouchables,’ ‘Midnight in Paris,’ ‘Emily in Paris,’ ‘Sex and the City,’ and ‘One Day.’
