Upon landing in Melbourne, she crosses paths with a former football player named Zach, who becomes her tour guide. Soon, Georgie’s structured Australian assignment is upended by the laid-back guide, who makes her realize that life is not just about work, but primarily about enjoying spontaneous, unplanned moments. Through the perspectives of George and Zach, the city of Melbourne is beautifully explored and portrayed in the movie, adding depth to the visual narrative.

‘A Melbourne Match’ was primarily filmed on location in Melbourne, Australia, with a few portions also seemingly shot in Vancouver, British Columbia. According to reports, principal photography for the rom-com got underway in August 2025 under the working title ‘Her Aussie Romance’ and continued for a few weeks before wrapping up in September of the same year. Alinta Chidzey was delighted to get the opportunity to work on the Hallmark production. She stated, “Feeling so lucky to be filming with such a great team of people on ‘Her Aussie Romance’. The cast & crew are an absolute dream team to work with!”
Melbourne, Australia
In order to maintain the authenticity, the production team of ‘A Melbourne Match’ lensed most of the pivotal sequences in Melbourne, where the story is set. Situated in the southeastern part of Australia, the capital of Victoria served as the primary production location as the cast and crew members set up camp in numerous streets and neighborhoods across the city in order to tape scenes involving Georgie and Zach. The Brighton Beach, located in the eponymous suburb, features in multiple scenes.
As the travel writer and former football player traverse the scenic terrains of Melbourne, you might be able to spot areas along the Yarra River and other popular landmarks, including Flinders Street Station, the Royal Exhibition Building, the Shrine of Remembrance, and Princes Bridge. In the establishing shots, several tall buildings also feature in the backdrop, such as Australia 108, Eureka Tower, Aurora Melbourne Central, 120 Collins Street, and more.
