Under the direction of Lucie Guest, Hallmark’s ‘An Alpine Holiday’ revolves around two estranged sisters, Faith and Kelly, who are busy with their respective lives away from one another. However, when their grandmother’s last wish involves the two sisters climbing the peaks of the French Alps for the holidays and recreating her first ever trip with her husband and their grandfather, Faith and Kelly have no other option than to reunite and oblige her wish.
After flying to France, the two sisters are met by a French mountaineer guide named Frederic, who takes the responsibility to take them on a memorable journey to the French Alps. The challenges faced by the three in their adventure only bring the estranged sisters closer together. Meanwhile, as the journey progresses, Kelly begins to fall in love with the guide. Originally titled ‘An Alpine Christmas,’ the Christmas romantic drama movie is primarily set in France, especially in Chamonix and the French Alps, where Faith and Kelly realize the value of sisterhood.
Where Was An Alpine Holiday Filmed?
The shooting for ‘An Alpine Holiday’ took place in Bulgaria, particularly in and around Sofia. Additional portions were also reportedly shot on location in Chamonix, France. From what we can tell, principal photography for the holiday film seemingly got underway in May 2025 and wrapped up after a couple of weeks in June of the same year.
Sofia, Bulgaria
In ‘An Alpine Holiday,’ the chilly adventures of Faith and Kelly take place in the southeastern part of France, specifically in the French Alps, on the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regions. However, the cast and crew actually traveled east of the Alps mountain range to the country of Bulgaria. For the purpose of shooting, the team settled on Sofia, which is the capital city of the southeastern European country. Located in the eponymous valley at the foot of Vitosha Mountain, it is home to breathtaking mountain ranges, cliffs, alpine forests, and snowy peaks, which could easily stand in for the majestic French Alps.
Alongside its visual resemblance, Sofia is also home to world-class infrastructure for production and post-production services, as well as lucrative tax incentives, rebates, cooperative authorities, relatively faster permit approval, and easy accessibility to shoot at landmarks due to its comparatively fewer tourists. All of these factors likely influenced the team’s decision to tape the Hallmark movie in the city. Over the years, it has established a reputation as a prominent filming site and also hosted the filming of movies and shows such as ‘A Christmas Story Christmas,’ ‘The Groomsmen: First Look,’ ‘Savoring Paris,’ ‘Picture Perfect Royal Christmas,’ ‘Paris, Wine & Romance,’ ‘Kleks Academy,’ ‘Plebs,’ ‘Liaisons,’ and ‘Do Not Think of Me.’

Since ‘An Alpine Holidaya’ takes place in Chamonix, it is only fitting that the production team tape several pivotal sequences on location. Situated in Southeastern France’s Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, it is a part of the French Alps and borders both Italy and Switzerland. Numerous French Alps scenes were recorded in the commune, adding a layer of authenticity to the narrative. Few of the movies shot in and around Chamonix include ‘The Climb,’ ‘Tell Her That I Love Her,’ ‘Thieves After Dark,’ and ‘Les marmottes.’
An Alpine Holiday Cast Details
The wholesome tale of ‘An Alpine Holiday’ was brought to life by the impressive performances of Ashley Williams, Laci J. Mailey, and Julien Samani. Ashley has had a year-long connection with Hallmark as she has served as an actor, director, producer, and writer for several films. She also founded Make Her Mark, a women’s directing initiative. Laci is the founder of Good Fruit Productions, through which she has directed and written indie short films, such as ‘An Irish Name,’ ‘Mary Jean Remembers,’ and ‘Poetry Series: Italy.’ The French native, Julien, has also served as a writer and director for ‘The Frenchies’ and ‘The J&T Sketch Show.’
Ashley Williams as Faith
Ashley Williams portrays Faith in ‘An Alpine Holiday.’ Widely recognized for her portrayals of Victoria in ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and Jeannie Gaffigan in ‘The Jim Gaffigan Show,’ Ashley also features in several movies, such as ‘Something Borrowed’ as Claire, ‘Falling Together’ as Natalie Calder, ‘Chris Watts: Confessions of a Killer’ as Shanann Watts,’ and ‘Love, Classified’ as Nora Noble. Her other TV credits include ‘Amber Brown,’ ‘The Good Doctor,’ ‘Warehouse 13,’ and ‘Saving Grace.’
Laci J. Mailey as Kelly
Laci J. Mailey essays the character of Kelly, Faith’s estranged sister, in the Hallmark production. Her face might seem familiar to many of you as she features in ‘Betty’s Bad Luck in Love’ as Betty, ‘The Perfect Setting’ as Abby Vandenbrink, ‘Chesapeake Shores’ as Jess O’Brien, and ‘The Romeo Section’ as Sonya. The talented actor also stars in various other TV shows, like ‘Emily Owens M.D.,’ ‘Ring of Fire,’ ‘Arrow,’ ‘Supernatural,’ and ‘SurrealEstate.’
Julien Samani as Frederic
Julien Samani plays the role of Frederic, the mountaineer guide and Kelly’s love interest, in the holiday film. In the span of his acting career, Julien has showcased his talents by portraying different kinds of characters, such as Luc in ‘Holidate,’ Zach Charles in ‘Tiny Beautiful Things,’ Louie in ‘Young Rock,’ Russell in ‘Shrinking,’ and Taylor in ‘Hollywood Girls 2.’ Besides the leads, ‘An Alpine Holiday’ also features other talented actors in supporting roles, including JR Esposito as Henry, Véronique Frumy as Celeste, and Gergana Todorova as Amelie.
