Double Scoop: Filming Locations and Cast Details

With Peter Sullivan at the helm, Hallmark’s ‘Double Scoop’ acquaints us with two competent advertising executives — Nora and James — who were once colleagues at a top New York advertising firm. When the former discovers a small-town dairy farm called Darlington Dairy that produces the best ice cream in the world, she decides to land them as one of her clients. However, her former co-worker, James, also has eyes on landing the advertising bid for the dairy. As Nora and James compete for the sweetest client, the tension between them melts away, and sparks begin to fly. The romantic drama film transports the two ad executives from the hustle and bustle of city life to the charm and quiet of the small-town dairy farm community, which plays a key role in helping them fall in love.

Where Was Double Scoop Filmed?

Alabama served as the primary production location for ‘Double Scoop,’ with most of the shooting taking place in Shelby County and Birmingham. As per reports, principal photography for the Hallmark production got underway in April 2025 and concluded after a few weeks in May of the same year. During the shooting, many locals were used as background extras. In an interview with Entertainment Now, Taylor Cole stated, “The whole ensemble cast was so much fun to play with. I love the comedy in these rom-coms. I like to play it up as much as humanly possible, because I want to make people laugh, and I want to help people escape whatever they’re going through. Getting those laughs in was really fun for this one, and everybody contributed to that.”

Shelby County, Alabama

Most of the filming of ‘Double Scoop’ was conducted in Shelby County in the central part of Alabama. The scenes set in the dairy farm were actually shot on a farm in Harpersville, specifically the farm of Tim and Carol Paramore. With full cooperation from the family, the expansive and lush green canvas of the farm served as an ideal backdrop for the Hallmark production. However, the animals we see in the festival scene and likely a few other sequences were actually transported from a different farm — the Fortner Farm. Located at 1620 County Road 1682 in Holly Pond in Cullman County, it is a popular petting farm in the area owned by Benny and Stephanie Fortner.

While Fortner Farm was initially considered a contender for the filming site, ultimately, the Paramore family farm was chosen as one. However, the team found the four-legged animals, such as a calf, goat, and mini donkeys, too adorable not to include in the film and decided to feature them in the production. Alongside the animals, either Benny or Stephanie Fortner also bagged a chance to appear in the film and showcase their acting chops. In an interview with EntertainmentNow, the lead actress, Taylor Cole, expressed how fun it was to shoot with the furry babies. “We were on a farm and I did a bunch of different, fun things that I never thought I would get the opportunity to do, which is so fun,” she said.

The actress further added, “I love animals of all kinds, and I bottle-fed a calf, I milked a cow, I held a baby goat.” She was so mesmerized by the cuteness of the animals that even the fleas on the baby goats didn’t stop her from petting them. She stated, “I watched the fleas jump from him to me! The fleas were hopping all over, and I was like, ‘Oh boy, well, this is fun!’ But I got a photo with him, and I survived.” While Taylor had a lot of fun at the petting zoo, she revealed that her co-star Ryan’s allergies didn’t let him have a great experience. “He was, like, completely miserable, and I was totally in my element,” she concluded.

The owners of the farm, Benny or Stephanie Fortner, were present on the Harpersville set during the shooting. “We got there about 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. and didn’t leave until 7 p.m. Every shot was done almost 10 times. It’s something to see with all the big cameras and the big screens. My husband got to do the little ‘Action’ part. That’s all he wanted to do, he said. I want to do the ‘take action,’” Stephanie mentioned in an interview. In the end, everything went smoothly, and the filming was seemingly conducted with no major hiccup.

For the purpose of filming, the cast and crew also visited the city of Columbiana. A few scenes were taped at Pastries on Main by seasoned baker Carol Dotson. The patisserie proprietor employed years of experience she gained in the world of baking to create a store that serves delightfully sweet indulgences of varying types, ranging from cakes, pies, cookies, pastries, fudges, brownies, cobblers, puddings, and fresh coffee. Therefore, it makes sense why the team settled on the cozy little spot for shooting. The locales of the college town of Montevallo also feature in the film. Per reports, filming of ‘Double Scoop’ also took place in Falcon Art Supply at 623 Main Street as well as Fox and Pheasant Inn at 540 Shelby Street in Montevallo.

Birmingham, Alabama

A minor chunk of ‘Double Scoop’ was also taped in the city of Birmingham, which is the county seat of Jefferson County. From what we can tell, its cityscape doubled as the skyline of the big city, where Nora and James work as advertising executives. One can spot several landmarks and high-rise buildings in the establishing shots, including the 16th Street Baptist Church, the City Hall, the Alabama Theatre, the Vulcan statue, the Shipt Tower, the Regions-Harbert Plaza, and the Regions Center.
