In Hallmark’s ‘The Christmas Baby,’ we get acquainted with Erin Pinnelli and Kelly Townsend, a couple who look forward to capitalizing on the busiest time of the year and focus on their business. Their plans get derailed when they find a baby boy, along with a note specially written for them, on their doorstep just a few days before Christmas. With a newfound responsibility on their shoulders, the couple must find a balance between their relationship and work.
While taking care of the baby temporarily, Erin and Kelly form a bond with him that prompts them to consider adopting the baby themselves. Meanwhile, the couple is forced to navigate the complexities associated with the world of fostering as they juggle their business at the same time. Helmed by Eva Tavares, the romantic drama movie mostly takes place in and around the residence of Erin and Kelly, their place of business, and the streets that are adorned with Christmas decorations.
Where Was The Christmas Baby Filmed?
The shooting for ‘The Christmas Baby’ was conducted primarily in British Columbia, particularly in Metro Vancouver. According to reports, principal photography for the Hallmark production got underway on May 20, 2025, and went on for more than two weeks before wrapping up by the end of the first week of June of the same year. Rebecca Staab talked about her experience on set, stating, “Every day on set was “family-time” — we laughed, we hugged, we shed tears together. Our cast, crew, and production team collaborated to bring you, our audience, a story of family, truth, sacrifices, teamwork, and dreams… all while laughing and sharing our best selves. I love this story and every single person who brought it to life.”
Metro Vancouver, British Columbia
To paint the visual canvas of ‘The Christmas Baby,’ the cast and crew visited several locales in Metro Vancouver in the westernmost province of British Columbia. The team also moved to the heart of Metro Vancouver in Burnaby for the purpose of shooting. In the city, filming for the romantic comedy was also conducted at the Burnaby Village Museum, located at 6501 Deer Lake Avenue. Formerly known as Heritage Village, the 10-acre open-air museum is packed with buildings and exhibits that reflect the aesthetic of the 1920s. Alongside attractions such as the Interurban tram and the carousel, it offers an immersive experience where one can opt for tours, indulge in diverse activities and interact with people dressed as residents of the era.
A portion of the Hallmark production was also taped in Maple Ridge, in the northeastern part of the region. The now-defunct Riverview Hospital at 2601 Lougheed Highway in Coquitlam also served as the filming site for the movie. ‘The Boy Who Could Fly,’ ‘Finding Mr. Right,’ ‘Jatt & Juliet 2’ and ‘Welcome to Marwen’ were also lensed at the desolated psychiatric hospital. In addition, a few private residences in and around the port city of Vancouver opened their doors to the cast and crew, who transformed the spots for shooting some sequences. Filming of ‘The Christmas Baby’ also took place in Downtown Vancouver.
