Hulu’s ‘Love Overboard’ is a dating reality show that introduces a group of single, attractive individuals who board a lavish yacht in hopes of socializing and finding love and romance. However, not everyone has access to the luxuries of the yacht, as only the participants staying on the top deck are allowed to utilize the ship’s amenities. Meanwhile, the ones staying on the bottom deck, also known as the Downsiders, take on the responsibilities of the crew, including cleaning the deck and scrubbing the restrooms.
Over the weeks, alliances form among participants as the Downsiders plot to break up an existing couple on the upper deck to gain access to the amenities. Later, six additional Shipwreckers board the ship to threaten the original participants and fight for the title. In the end, only one couple emerges victorious after navigating rough seas and relationships along the way. Hosted by Gabby Windey, the series unfolds on the yacht for the most part as the singles try to find love and maintain their position on the upper deck.
Love Overboard Filming Locations
‘Love Overboard’ is filmed across the island country of Malta, particularly in and around Valletta. Principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the reality show reportedly took place over the course of a few weeks in the summer of 2025, seemingly around July. Malta’s pristine and crystal-clear waters and the exotic nature of the island allows it to be a fitting production location for various kinds of projects, including reality shows.

The luxurious yacht where the single participants compete to stay on the upper deck and navigate love is the Chakra, an 86m Devonport luxury superyacht that can accommodate up to 24 guests in its lavish 19 cabins. The top deck is full of amenities as featured on ‘Love Overboard,’ including deluxe Jacuzzi tub, chaise loungers, sunpads, and seating. The superyacht also houses a fully equipped gym, a large sun deck, a variety of dining areas, a beauty salon, a massage room, and many sea toys. As the participants fight for access to amenities and utilize several rooms, the dating series features plenty of rooms and spaces, showcasing the ship’s luxuries.
In the backdrop, the Mediterranean Sea near the capital of Malta — Valletta — features in various scenes. The Grand Harbour in the city of Valletta is yet another stunning waterbody that appears in the backdrop. For shooting purposes, the cast and crew members of ‘Love Overboard’ also traveled to the open waters near the seaside town of St. Julian’s, situated just north of Valletta. Apart from the Hulu production, Valletta has served as a production location for quite a few reality shows, including ‘The Curse of Oak Island,’ ‘The Bachelor,’ ‘Pandora,’ and more.
