Hulu’s ‘Sunny Nights’ acquaints us with a brother-sister duo, Martin and Vicki Marvin, who relocate to Sydney, Australia, and try to establish and grow a spray-tan business called Tansform. Things are especially complicated on the personal front for Martin, as his estranged wife also lives in the city. Starting the business out of the back of a van, the siblings aspire to turn it into a multi-million-dollar empire and become successful entrepreneurs.
However, their dreams of grandeur are halted when they find themselves in trouble with Sydney’s criminal underworld, specifically with a notorious gangster. The Marvin siblings must keep each other safe and out of prison in the foreign nation while facing its criminals. Created by Nick Keetch and Ty Freer, the Australian comedy-drama series features a talented ensemble cast comprising Will Forte, D’Arcy Carden, Rachel House, Jessica De Gouw, Ra Chapman, Megan Wilding, and Miritana Hughes. The misadventures of Martin and Vicki unfold in Sydney, Australia, which serves as an additional character that tests the siblings’ bond by throwing life-threatening challenges in their path.
Sunny Nights Filming Locations
The filming for ‘Sunday Nights’ takes place in Australia, particularly in New South Wales. According to reports, principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the Hulu series got underway in early July 2024 and continued for about three months before wrapping up by the last week of September of the same year. D’Arcy Carden, who portrays Vicki, shared her experience of being a part of the production after the conclusion of the shooting, stating, “just spent 3 perfect months in perfect Australia making a perfect show with this perfect guy and the perfect cast and crew. Took 30,000 pictures, but I’ll wait til the show comes out to show ya.”
New South Wales, Australia
For the filming of ‘Sunny Nights,’ the cast and crew visited several locations in the Australian state of New South Wales. In particular, a major portion of the shooting was conducted in the state’s capital — Sydney. For instance, in the eastern part of the city, the suburb of Bondi served as one of the production locations for the comedy-drama show. The filming unit of the Will Forte starrer also set up camp outside Sydney to incorporate other ideal landscapes necessary for bringing the story to life. Several pivotal sequences were also lensed in the town of Katoomba, situated in the City of Blue Mountains.

Moreover, the Blue Mountains feature in the backdrop of various exterior scenes. During a conversation with Rolling Stone AU/NZ, Will Forte opened up about his bond with his co-star, D’Arcy Carden. “I got to meet this person who will be family for the rest of my life in D’Arcy Carden. Her and her husband, Jason, lived down there the whole time,” he stated. “We would hang out all the time. It was fantastic. The crew was unbelievably wonderful, just so good at what they did. Each one of them, you could go on vacation with. Man, I loved it. I look back on it, I could talk about ‘Sunny Nights’ for hours and hours.”
In an interview with Who, Will talked about how impressed he was by Australia and the local crew members. He said, “We came out of here with such an appreciation for every aspect of Australia. What a beautiful place, what a bunch of incredible, talented actors and then, outside of the show, just what a society – respectful, wonderful, pleasant, just funny, loving (and) endearing people.” D’Arcy also opened up, “We really loved it. Usually – even in a beautiful place or whatever – when you’re shooting outside of your home, you’re sort of itching to get home. And we didn’t have that in Australia – we were hoping it could be extended.”
