Lifetime’s ‘If I Go Missing’ is a thriller drama that shows how a young woman’s obsession with mysterious cases of disappearances and murders of women in her town brings her to a serial killer’s doorstep. Directed by Stefan Brogren, the story follows Sloane, who has created an “If I Go Missing” journal that enables people to store every detail about themselves, from fingerprints to medical information to DNA samples to even suspects, and more. This will help the cops track them down if they go missing.
When another girl disappears in the neighborhood, which is followed by the arrival of her new and attractive neighbor Elliot, Sloan finds it suspicious. Day by day, her doubts seem to be validated as Elliot’s traits match those she has jotted down regarding serial killers. To find answers, Sloan slowly becomes the perfect victim to bring down Elliot, whom she considers the killer, and put an end to his crimes once and for all. The narrative centers on crimes committed in a neighborhood, and the visuals ensure continuity by keeping the backdrops tightly knit.
Where was If I Go Missing Filmed?
‘If I Go Missing’ was filmed entirely in Ontario, specifically in Hamilton. From what we can tell, principal photography began in the last week of February 2024 and wrapped up by the end of March the same year. The entire team had a great time both on and off set while shooting the part-crime-part-slasher flick. Director Stefan Brogren even took to social media to express his love and thank his team for “giving me such a gift of a project.” His pet Chihuahua, Shorty, further made the experience enjoyable for everyone.
Hamilton, Ontario
‘If I Go Missing’ was shot on location in Hamilton, a beautiful port city located on the western tip of Lake Ontario. It is known for its urban landscapes as well as its natural backdrops that, along with its tax incentives, make it a go-to spot for Lifetime projects. Its appearance has enabled it to double for American cities as well. Being a growing production base, Hamilton has many filming studios offering state-of-the-art facilities and ensuring swift and streamlined production. It is possible that the crew filmed a handful of sequences, especially indoor ones, in a film studio. Other Lifetime movies that have used the city and its resources for filming include ‘Dateless to Dangerous: My Son’s Secret Life,’ ‘My Husband’s Baby,’ and ‘Trapped in the Spotlight.’
Hamilton is also a popular tourist destination, offering visitors breathtaking vistas, ranging from trails to waterfalls to mountains. Some must-see landmarks include Dundurn Castle, Hamilton Stadium, Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, Albion Falls, and Webster’s Falls. As far as entertainment is concerned, you can enjoy the annual art and indie music festival Supercrawl, the Hamilton Film Festival (international), the Winona Peach Festival, and Festival of Friends, an annual three-day free summer music festival.
