Where Was Christmas in Alaska Filmed?

The shooting for ‘Christmas in Alaska’ was conducted in its entirety in Alberta, particularly in and around Edmonton. From what we can tell, principal photography for the Lifetime production got underway in March 2024 and continued for a few weeks before wrapping up in April of the same year. With the premiere of the film approaching, Essek Moore took to social media and shared his experience of being a part of the movie, stating, “I had so much fun with all my cast mates, the very cool crew and amazing director @pearcedyl. I’m so proud to have made this with our very ❄️ COOL ❄️ Canadian Team right in Alberta!”

Edmonton, Alberta

‘Christmas in Alaska’ was taped in the city of Edmonton in the heart of the province of Alberta. The city offers a snowy landscape during the winter, which proves favorable for productions set during the holiday season. The naturally icy aesthetic not only reduces production costs but also saves time that would otherwise be spent recreating the same artificially. Coupled with its scenic wonders, ranging from lush forests to rustic neighborhoods, fully equipped production studios, film-friendly policies and incentives, and experienced crew and cast members, Edmonton served as an ideal shooting site to stand-in for the Alaskan setting of the movie.

The team likely utilized several locales in the city to paint the visual canvas for the lighthearted narrative. As the two journalists embark on a series of adventures, their rivalry slowly gives way to a classic Christmas romance that unfolds against the charming backdrop of Edmonton. Nestled along the North Saskatchewan River, Heart of Canada’s Great North West is a popular filming destination in the region. Over the years, it has also hosted the production of a variety of movies and television shows of varying genres. Some of the titles that feature the stunning scenery of Edmonton are ‘Good Luck Chuck,’ ‘Meet Me at the Christmas Train Parade,’ ‘Coupled Up for Christmas,’ ‘Me and Mr. Christmas,’ ‘The Christmas Blessing,’ ‘Christmas Town,’ ‘Delmer & Marta,’ ‘Jake and the Kid’ and ‘Finding Mr. Right.’
