In Lifetime’s ‘Murder and Mayhem at Mardi Gras,’ a woman named Danielle is in the process of grieving her mother’s tragic and sudden passing. Since she died under suspicious circumstances, Danielle takes matters into her own hands and travels to New Orleans, Louisiana, to meet her grandmother and hopefully solve the mystery surrounding her mother’s death. As she delves deeper into the case, she learns that her mother’s death was far from an accident and finds herself in a deadly feud with a rival family. Now, Danielle must make a tough choice — find justice for her late mother or risk destroying the legacy of both families. Helmed by Lisa France, the mystery thriller drama movie primarily unfolds in the city of New Orleans, which serves as an additional character, trying to keep the truth about Danielle’s mother’s death concealed amid the commotion of Mardi Gras.

Where Was Murder and Mayhem at Mardi Gras Filmed?

‘Murder and Mayhem at Mardi Gras’ was reportedly filmed on location in and around New Orleans, Louisiana, adding a layer of authenticity to the enthralling narrative. A few portions were also shot in Kentucky. Principal photography took place in March 2025 under the working title ‘Mardi Gras Murders,’ starting in early March and wrapping up after three weeks in the same month. After the conclusion of the shooting process, Skye Coyne took to social media to open up about the filming. She stated, “Had the wildest ride on this one. Shooting a movie in New Orleans (and Kentucky???) during actual Mardi Gras was absolutely batshit bananas and not for the faint of heart!! But man…we did it! What an incredible crew. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

New Orleans, Louisiana

The city of New Orleans, situated along the Mississippi River, served as the primary production location for ‘Murder and Mayhem at Mardi Gras.’ Many pivotal sequences were lensed in different streets and neighborhoods of the city. What made the production all the more special is the fact that numerous scenes were taped during the actual Mardi Gras in early March 2025, seemingly in and around St. Ann and North Rampart streets near Armstrong Park, Bourbon Street, the French Quarter, St. Charles Avenue, and more.

By shooting scenes on location during Fat Tuesday, the filming unit captured the parades and the crowded atmosphere of the occasion accurately. In the establishing shots, you are likely to spot various landmarks and buildings, including St. Louis Cathedral, Caesars Superdome, Hancock Whitney Center, Plaza Tower, the BankPlus Tower, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Aquarium of the Americas, and the Sheraton Hotel.

Kentucky

For the purpose of shooting, the production team of ‘Murder and Mayhem at Mardi Gras’ also traveled to the state of Kentucky. Also known as the Bluegrass State, its locales were turned into film sets by the cast and crew members as they recorded several key portions for the Lifetime film. Kentucky has hosted the production of numerous movies, such as ‘Goldfinger,’ ‘Demolition Man,’ ‘Amber Alert,’ ‘Red Right Hand,’ ‘Pretty Little Stalker,’ and ‘The Replacement Daughter.’

Hailing from South Florida, Skye has been passionate about acting since a very young age. Interestingly, her father was a professional opera singer who sang at the Metropolitan Opera. Skye has also made appearances in a couple of podcasts — ‘The South Jersey Horror Podcast’ and ‘Chat with Dan Show.’

Skye Coyne steps into the role of Danielle, the woman who investigates the murder of her mother in New Orleans, Louisiana, in ‘Murder and Mayhem at Mardi Gras.’ Starting her acting career with appearances on short films like ‘Michael You Are Not Alone’ and ‘Our Mouths Full of Dust,’ Skye moved up the ranks and landed roles in bigger projects. For instance, she portrays Jess in ‘Murder at the Lighthouse,’ Tabby Banks in ‘The Naughty List of Mr. Scrooge,’ Lilly in ‘Married Alive,’ and Molly in ‘Wild West Chronicles.’ She also features in ‘The Search for Secret Santa,’ ‘Love Under the Lemon Tree,’ ‘A Roommate to Die For,’ and ‘Be Careful What You Say.’

In the Lifetime production, Christy Tate essays the role of Louise, while Sarah Sampino portrays Michelle.
