‘My Fatal Social Following’ was filmed entirely in Georgia, across Metro Atlanta. According to reports, principal photography for the thriller got underway in May 2023 under the working title ‘Instacult.’ Filming continued for a few weeks before seemingly getting wrapped up in the same month. Metro Atlanta, Georgia
A majority of ‘My Fatal Social Following’ was taped in Metro Atlanta, a metropolitan area that covers the city of Atlanta and several surrounding areas. The Hollywood of the South served as the primary production location as the cast and crew members took over several neighborhoods and streets of the city to shoot essential scenes against suitable backdrops. In order to tape most of the high school scenes, the filming unit reportedly set up camp in and around the East Coweta High School at 400 Highway 154 on Sharpsburg McCollum Road in the town of Sharpsburg, which is situated in Georgia’s Coweta County.
From what we can tell, the makers made the most of the school’s premises and recorded numerous sequences in the corridors, classrooms, library, and other areas of the institution. Moreover, the high school football field was utilized to shoot a few portions for the Lifetime production. Besides that, some of the residential properties in Atlanta were also possibly turned into film sets, specifically to lens the scenes involving the houses of the characters. As for the cult scenes in the woods, the production team traveled to a wooded area in Metro Atlanta in order to shoot on location and add a layer of authenticity as well.
It seems that some of the portions for ‘My Fatal Social Following’ were also recorded in and around the Georgia Aquarium at 225 Baker Street Northwest in Atlanta. The metropolitan area has hosted the production of many other film and TV projects in the past. Some of the notable ones include ‘The Nice Guys,’ ‘No Good Deed,’ ‘The Darkest Minds,’ ‘Pieces of Her,’ ‘Scream: The TV Series,’ and ‘Ozark.’
