The Samantha MacAdam directorial, Lifetime’s ‘The Last Woman Who Lived Here,’ is a crime thriller drama film that follows a married couple — Charlotte and Joel — who wish to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life and start afresh in the suburbs. After finding the house of their dreams for an incredible deal, they do not hesitate twice to pack up their belongings and relocate to the suburban neighborhood. However, what seems to be their dream house turns out to be “the murder house.”
Not long after their move, Charlotte begins to find clues left by the former resident before she was murdered there. After the revelation, she embarks on a mission to get to the bottom of it all and find out which one of her new neighbors might be involved in the murder. The film employs dark visuals and shadows in and around the house, where most of the story unfolds, in order to maintain tension throughout its run. Given its significance, the residence serves as an additional character to the narrative, offering an immersive experience.

The shooting for ‘The Last Woman Who Lived Here’ was carried out in its entirety in Ontario, especially in and around Toronto. According to reports, principal photography for the Lifetime production got underway in September 2024 under the working title ‘She Was Murdered in Our House’ and wrapped up after a few weeks in October of the same year. The director, Samantha MacAdam, penned a heartfelt note of gratitude toward her entire team after the conclusion of the shooting process, explaining how their collaborative efforts helped her fulfill her objective to entertain and elevate.

For instance, they supposedly set up camp in a suburban neighborhood in Toronto and took over an actual residential property to shoot scenes involving the murder house.
