Love on the Amazon: Filming Locations and Cast Details

With Colin Theys at the helm, Hallmark’s ‘Love on the Amazon’ is a romantic comedy that revolves around the adventures of a young woman named Claire, who travels to Brazil to deliver an important message to her marine biologist sister, Amelia. Since her sister is busy gaining knowledge about pink dolphins on the Amazon River, Claire enlists the help of a riverboat captain named Danny, who forms a deep bond with her during their adventurous journey through the wilderness. As mentioned above, the story unfolds in the middle of the Amazon River, which serves as an additional character that guides the characters to romance as well as their destination.

Where Was Love on the Amazon Filmed?

Since ‘Love on the Amazon’ is set on the Amazon River, the production team decided to shoot it on location, in Iquitos, Peru. Principal photography for the Hallmark production got underway in the second week of August 2025 and went on for about two weeks before wrapping up by the end of the same month. According to Jaicy Elliot, the experience of shooting the movie in the middle of the River felt like being on ‘Survivor.’

Iquitos, Peru

Almost the entirety of ‘Love on the Amazon’ was lensed in and around Iquitos, the capital city of the Maynas Province and Loreto Region in Peru. Known as the capital of the Peruvian Amazon, Iquitos is located on the left bank of the Amazon River, making it easier for the filming unit to double it as Brazil’s portion of the Amazon River. Talking about the shooting process, Jaicy told Digital Journal, “We shot most of the movie on this boat. We had 15 days of shooting and nine of them were on a boat, so it had a lot of challenges… especially when you put a crew on a boat under the sun.”

She said that the Amazon River in Iquitos “brought out this raw honesty out of us.” She explained, “I think it does the same thing for the characters, so you can’t disregard the fact that we are in the middle of this really warm winter, where it was still very humid and very hot.” In the establishing shots, you might also spot a few popular landmarks and buildings, including the St. John the Baptist Cathedral, the Old Hotel Palace, Nanay Bridge, and Chapel of Consolation and Saint Augustine Seminary. Besides ‘Love on the Amazon,’ the capital city has hosted the production of quite a few movies, such as ‘Burden of Dreams,’ ‘Fire on the Amazon,’ ‘The Motorcycle Diaries,’ ‘Fitzcarraldo,’ and ‘Condor’s Nest.’
