Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates Filming Locations

‘Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates’ was filmed primarily in Hawaii, especially on the island of O’ahu. From what we can tell, principal photography for the Zac Efron starrer got underway in the last week of May 2015 and wrapped up after more than two months in late July or early August of the same year. Since the story is set in Hawaii, it is only fitting that the production team shoots the movie on location in order to add a layer of authenticity to the narrative.

O’ahu, Hawaii

Almost all the pivotal sequences for ‘Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates’ were reportedly lensed in different areas of the island of O’ahu in Hawaii. To be specific, the filming unit took over the Ritz-Carlton Oʻahu, Turtle Bay at 57-091 Kamehameha Highway in the census-designated place of Kahuku. Nestled on 1,300 acres, the luxury resort is home to cottages, pristine beaches, spa treatments, outdoor adventures, and more. As for the ATV scenes involving the two brothers and their dates, they were taped at the world-famous Kualoa Ranch at 49560 Kamehameha Highway in the census-designated place of Kaneohe. The cast and crew members of the Jake Szymanski directorial were also spotted filming key portions in the city of Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii, and the census-designated place of Laie.

Furthermore, several beach scenes were shot on Waimea Bay, situated in Haleiwa on the North Shore of O’ahu. In an interview, Adam Devine was asked about his experience of shooting in Hawaii. He admitted, “Yes, we did all kinds of cool stuff. It was so awesome. We were there for two months so I was a Hawaiian boy for a minute. Zac and I went swimming with the sharks and it was so awesome. We weren’t even in a cage. We were in our boyshorts swimming and there were all these sharks around us and at one point this giant 13-foot tiger shark came out of the depths and Zac swam right over to it and grabbed its fin and rode it. Like an amusement ride.” Apart from ‘Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates,’ O’ahu has served as a production location for movies like ‘Red One,’ ‘Murder Mystery 2,’ ‘Two Tickets to Paradise,’ ‘The Wrong Missy,’ and ‘Vacation Friends 2.’
