A Melanie Halsall creation, ‘My Life With the Walter Boys’ is an adaptation of the eponymous 2014 novel written by Ali Novak. In the second season of the teen drama series, the focus is yet again on Jackie, who returns to Silver Falls after the completion of her internship in the Big Apple for the summer. The reason for her returning to Silver Falls is not motivated by romance with either Alex or Cole, but a desire to have a family and a motherly figure in the form of Katherine Walter. However, when she returns to Silver Falls, Jackie notices a change in Alex, who is now a more attractive and confident version of himself. As the dynamics between Jackie and the Walter boys are explored in season 2, the familiar backdrops of Silver Falls and New York City provide dynamic visuals and depth to the story.
My Life With the Walter Boys Season 2 Filming Locations
Like the inaugural season of ‘My Life With the Walter Boys,’ the sophomore round was also filmed in the Calgary Metropolitan Region, Alberta. Principal photography for the second season of the teen series got underway in July 2024 and went on for several months before wrapping up in November of the same year. During the last few days of the season 2 shooting, Sarah Rafferty, who portrays Katherine Walter, told Tudum, “It’s really magnificent, and having the opportunity to take that in at 3 in the morning and shoot outside and to (admire) the stars has just been really beautiful.”
Calgary Metropolitan Region, Alberta
All the pivotal sequences for ‘My Life With the Walter Boys’ season 2 were reportedly lensed in the Calgary Metropolitan Region, AKA Greater Calgary. The expansive facility of CL Western Town and Backlot in Bragg Creek, which is situated west of Calgary, was utilized to portray the fictional town of Silver Falls, Colorado, where the Walter family resides. One of the buildings in the facility doubled as the Walter residence. From what we can tell, the production team also made the most of the facilities and sound stages of Rocky Mountain Film Studio. Situated at 7016 81 Street in Calgary, the film studio is home to three state-of-the-art campuses on a total of 63 acres, consisting of ten different sound stages, multiple production offices, parking lots, wardrobe offices, and a backlot.
For shooting purposes, the campus of Chestermere High School at 241078 Range Road 280 and the Chestermere Rec Center at 201 West Chestermere Drive in Chestermere were also transformed into a film set. Several locales of the towns of Cochrane and Crossfield also feature in the second season of the teen drama series. Around October 2024, the cast and crew members set up camp in the town of High River for numerous days. To be specific, George Lane Memorial Park and Campground at 343 Macleod Trail Southwest, and several other local establishments, such as the Museum of the Highwood at 406 1 Street Southwest, served as prominent production locations. When asked by Sweety High if he had a memorable moment from the set, Ashby Gentry recalled a funny incident that happened in High River.
While his costars were still working, he decided to hang around. Ashby went to a local cookie shop to get some cookies for everybody on set. He added, “So I went to the cookie shop, and I said, ‘I’m just gonna buy whatever you have left.’ She was like, ‘Oh, what show are you working on over there?’ And I said, ‘My Life With the Walter Boys on Netflix.’ She goes, ‘Oh, my God, I love My Life With the Walter Boys!’ I looked at her, and I went… (Points at face) And she was like, ‘Oh, my God, you are Alex!’ And then we like took pictures and everything. I thought that was really funny, because I was like, ‘I also love My Life With the Walter Boys a lot!'” In late October 2024, the cast and crew members were spotted taping important scenes at Holy Trinity Academy at 338072 32 Street East in the town of Okotoks. Adorning the school’s football field with the US and Colorado flags, they shot various football sequences on location.
