Inspired by true events and Natalia Zito’s novel Veintisiete Noches, Netflix’s ’27 Nights’ is an Argentinian comedy-drama movie that revolves around an extremely wealthy matriarch in her 80s named Martha Hoffman. Her two daughters admit her to a psychiatric clinic against her will after she displays signs of dementia. In order to determine if she really has dementia or is just a woman who enjoys her freedom, an expert witness named Dr. Casares takes over her case.
While examining Martha’s condition, the judicial expert also looks into the possibility of her two daughters admitting her to the psychiatric clinic so as to take control of her fortune. Originally titled ’27 Noches,’ the Daniel Hendler directorial features a talented ensemble cast comprising Daniel Hendler, Marilu Marini, Humberto Tortonese, and Julieta Zylberberg. As the narrative touches upon some prevalent themes of freedom and aging, it layers them with humor as well as diverse backdrops, such as the psychiatric clinic and residences.
27 Nights Filming Locations
The shooting for ’27 Nights’ was conducted entirely in Argentina, especially across Greater Buenos Aires. According to reports, principal photography for the drama film got underway in January 2025 and went on for several weeks before wrapping up by March 1 of the same year. The director, Daniel Hendler, shared a few words about his wonderful experience working with the cast and crew. He stated, “We are deeply grateful for the privilege of filming a film at this moment black of Argentine cinema, with a dream cast and crew. To everyone who was part of 27 nights, present in these photos and outside of them, infinite thanks for the dedication, commitment, work, talent, magic and love for cinema.”
Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina
All the pivotal sequences for ’27 Nights’ were lensed in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area, also known as Greater Buenos Aires. The production team set up camp at various streets and neighborhoods across the region, including the neighborhood of Vicente López. They were spotted recording several scenes in and around the Circulo de la Fuerza Aerea Argentina at RP195 661, B1638 Vicente López. The neighborhood of Boedo also served as a key filming site. From what we can tell, the areas around Auditorio Belgrano at Virrey Loreto 2348 and Comodoro Py at Av. Comodoro Py 2002, C1104BEN, also seemingly features in multiple scenes.
For the purpose of shooting, the filming unit also traveled a bit outside the city of Buenos Aires to the city of San Miguel, which is situated in the northwest region of the metropolitan area. In the establishing shots, you might be able to spot a few iconic landmarks and places of interest, including Torre Monumental, the Obelisco de Buenos Aires, the Palace of the Argentine National Congress, and the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity. Apart from ’27 Nights,’ Greater Buenos Aires has hosted the production of multiple movies and TV shows over the years, such as ‘The Secret in Their Eyes,’ ‘Children of Men,’ ‘Happy Together,’ ‘Son of the Bride,’ ‘In the Mud,’ and ‘One Life to Live.’
