From the mind of George Kay, Netflix’s ‘Blood Sacrifice’ is a Swedish crime thriller drama series that follows a competent investigator named Thomas Berg, who becomes the lead detective in solving the murders of his police colleagues and in catching one of the deadliest serial killers in Swedish history. However, as the murder counts increase and desperation seeps in, he reluctantly enlists the help of his estranged father, Alfred, who was once considered a well-regarded and decorated detective.
However, in order to prevent further homicides, the father-son duo must set aside their personal beef and work together for the greater good. While trying to apprehend the killer before time runs out, Thomas and Alfred confront the resentment in each other’s hearts and work towards resolving their relationship. Originally titled ‘Blodsoffer,’ the crime show is set in the Stockholm archipelago, with its dark alleys and streets turning into the stomping ground of an active serial killer.
Blood Sacrifice Filming Locations
‘Blood Sacrifice’ is filmed in its entirety in Sweden, particularly in and around Stockholm. From what we can tell, principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the crime series was conducted in the summer of 2025, over the course of a few months. By shooting the show where the story is set, the makers managed to add an authentic layer to the narrative.

In order to fill the visual canvas of ‘Blood Sacrifice’ as authentically as possible, the production team lensed most of the scenes on location in the capital of Sweden — Stockholm. They set up camp in various local establishments and residential properties to tape key indoor scenes. Furthermore, certain streets and neighborhoods, highlighting the city’s hustle and bustle, were transformed into film sets to shoot important exterior portions. You are also likely to spot numerous landmarks and buildings in the backdrop of aerial and establishing shots, such as the Royal Dramatic Theatre, Strandvägen, the Stockholm Palace, Stortorget, and more.
As per reports, the filming unit of ‘Blood Sacrifice’ also made the most of other localities outside Stockholm, but within the Stockholm archipelago. The producers of the show, Johannes Åhlund and Ulf Synnerholm, told Netflix Tudum, “Working with George Kay on Blood Sacrifice has been a thrilling ride. His vision for a tense, emotional crime story set against the unique backdrop of the Stockholm summer gave us the chance to create a series that feels both distinctly Swedish and has an international touch.” Besides the Swedish thriller show, Stockholm has served as a prominent production location for multiple movies and TV shows, including ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,’ ‘Thriller: A Cruel Picture,’ ‘The Postcard Killings,’ ‘The Truth Will Out,’ ‘The Åre Murders,’ and ‘The Helicopter Heist’
