Based on the eponymous book written by Julia May Jonas, Netflix’s ‘Vladimir’ is a comedy-drama series created by Jonas herself. The narrative centers on a married English professor, referred to as M, whose husband faces problematic allegations from former students, leading to problems in their marital life. Things become even more complicated when M becomes infatuated with her new colleague named Vladimir.
The titular character is a celebrated novelist who is married himself. Not long after his arrival on campus, M develops an obsession with Vladimir. As the obsession develops into an affair, both of them put their personal as well as professional careers at risk. Featuring stellar performances from Rachel Weisz, Leo Woodall, John Slattery, Jessica Henwick, Ellen Robertson, and Matt Walsh, the tale of romance between two married coworkers unfolds primarily in the college where they teach, with their personal lives depicted through their respective homes.
Vladimir Filming Locations
The shooting for ‘Vladimir’ is reportedly conducted in Ontario, especially in the Greater Toronto Area and Brantford. According to reports, principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the drama series got underway in the first week of July 2025 and went on for more than two months before concluding in September of the same year. Given the vast and versatile landscape of Ontario, it served as the ideal filming destination for the show.
Greater Toronto Area, Ontario
A major portion of the shooting for ‘Vladimir’ takes place in the Greater Toronto Area in the province of Ontario. Several locales in the metropolitan region doubled up as a shooting spot for the drama series. In the city of Toronto, the cast and crew visited the University of Toronto Scarborough at 1265 Military Trail to tape a few sequences. In particular, filming was conducted in The Andrews Building, the iconic megalithic structure designed by Australian architect John Andrews. The striking fortress-like Brutalist architecture infuses the narrative with a psychologically charged atmosphere, serving as a visually compelling setting that heightens tension and elevates emotional depth.

Over the years, the aforementioned academic hub has established itself as a stunning landmark of the 20th century and has hosted the shooting of ‘Total Recall’ and ‘The Shape of Water.’ Aside from Toronto, the production process also took the team west to Mississauga. Situated on Lake Ontario, the city offered the team an aesthetic that proved ideal as the backdrop for the show. Filming also extended to the town of Halton Hills, especially in the unincorporated community of Georgetown. For the purpose of filming, the team set up camp in the area in August 2025. They transformed a cozy local cafe named Kit’s Little Kitchen at 520 Main Street into Charlotte Haze. Over the course of filming, the crew replaced the original signage of the eatery with one that read “Charlotte Haze.” A few more temporary changes were performed on the storefront.
Brantford, Ontario

The cast and crew of ‘Vladimir’ were also spotted taping some scenes in Brantford, located in Brant County in the southeastern part of Ontario. The show was also lensed at the Former Brantford City Hall, situated at 100 Wellington Square in the city. Built in 1967, the Michael Kopsa-designed Brutalist structure is no longer the seat of the municipal government. Aside from financial incentives and supportive local authorities and residents, the city stands as a favorable filming location owing to its eclectic mix of historic and contemporary architecture. Aside from the Netflix production, movies and television shows such as ‘Murdoch Mysteries,’ ‘The Handmaid’s Tale,’ ‘Station Eleven,’ ‘Mayor of Kingstown,’ ‘Frankie Drake Mysteries,’ and ‘Departure’ utilized the locales of Brantford to create their visual canvas.
