From the mind of Dan Fogelman, ‘Paradise’ is a post-apocalyptic drama series that revolves around a Secret Service agent named Xavier Collins, who solves mysteries behind the quaint facade of the Colorado city in an underground bunker after an apocalyptic event. Season 2 picks up right after the events of the debut season, as Xavier embarks on a mission to search for his missing wife, Dr. Teri Rodgers-Collins, three years after the doomsday event. As he steps out of the underground bunker, Xavier uncovers some dark truths about the apocalypse and learns how the others survived it. In the second season of the political thriller show, the Secret Service agent also faces new challenges as the social struggle inside the bunker crumbles. The dystopian setting of the Sterling K. Brown starrer also adds a layer of mystery to the suspenseful narrative.
Paradise Season 2 Filming Locations
Following in the footsteps of the inaugural iteration, ‘Paradise’ season 2 was also reportedly filmed primarily in Los Angeles County, California. According to reports, principal photography for the sophomore round got underway in late March 2025 and went on for nearly five months before wrapping up in August of the same year. Announcing the conclusion of the shooting for the second season, Sterling K. Brown took to social media and stated, “Ladies and gentlemen, that is a SEASON 2 WRAP on #ParadiseHulu!!!! Trust that you are not prepared for what’s to come!!!! SOON…”
Los Angeles County, California
All the pivotal sequences for ‘Paradise’ season 2 were reportedly lensed across Los Angeles County, situated in Southern California. Many streets and neighborhoods of the city of Los Angeles were redressed to look post-apocalyptic for the production. The filming unit also set up camp at the Paramount Studios at 5555 Melrose Avenue in LA’s Hollywood neighborhood. Home to about 30 different sound stages spread across over 360,000 Square feet, the film studio also offers plenty of Mill Space, Wardrobe Cages, production offices, dining services, parking services, and more.
Furthermore, Paramount Studios consists of various exterior sets in the backlot, including the Alley, New York Street, parks, theaters, walkways, and building lobbies. Thus, it serves as an ideal filming destination for all kinds of projects, including ‘Paradise.’ Talking about projects being filmed outside of LA, the creator Dan Fogelman told The Hollywood Reporter, “Now that we still shoot on the Paramount lot, we can pretty much use whichever [stage] we want because there’s just not the same level of activity in the city anymore.” In order to tape the scenes involving the suburban neighborhood where Collins resides, the cast and crew set up camp in one of the residential neighborhoods in Santa Clarita, located north of LA.
During a conversation with Indie Wire, Fogelman explained why shooting in Los Angeles has many advantages. “There’s no real challenge. Everything about shooting in LA. is better if your show can be set in L.A. The craftspeople are better. You have a larger community. It’s where we all live. The bad part is it’s just more expensive. It’s only about money. You lose millions of dollars an episode on screen to pay for being in Los Angeles,” he said. Apart from ‘Paradise,’ the City of Angels has hosted the production of multiple movies and TV shows over the years. Some of the notable ones include ‘Crime 101,’ ‘One Battle After Another,’ ‘The Rip,’ ‘The Night Agent,’ ‘Criminal Minds,’ ‘The Lincoln Lawyer,’ and ‘True Detective.’
