Propeller One-Way Night Coach Filming Locations
As the events of John Travolta’s semi-autobiographical film transpire across the country, filming of ‘Propeller One-Way Night Coach’ was conducted in Missouri, New York, and California, specifically in Kansas City, New York City, and Los Angeles. From what we can tell, principal photography for the drama film commenced in mid-January 2025 and seemingly continued for about a couple of months. One of the Assistant Directors, Melodi Tuna, shared a few words of gratitude as the film’s premiere at the Cannes Film Festival approached. “The project directed by John Travolta and I was one of the assistant directors, will premiere at Cannes Film Festival 🙏🤍 I am very lucky to have worked with such a legend,” she stated.
Kansas City, Missouri
For the purpose of filming a portion of ‘Propeller One-Way Night Coach,’ the production team settled on Kansas City, located on the western end of Missouri. In particular, shooting was carried out at the TWA Museum at 10 Richards Rd #110 in Kansas City Airport -Wheeler Field. It proved to be an ideal spot since it is steeped in the history of the operations of Trans World Airlines during the 1950s and 1960s, the era in which the movie’s events unfold. The premises of the museum were utilized to likely prevent the usage of heavy CGI or effects to create the mid-century aviation atmosphere. Since a major part of the movie is set in a passenger aircraft, shooting in the legacy destination provided the team with a controlled environment for camerawork and lighting as well as a set design packed with vintage airplane interiors and structures.
New York City, New York
Some sequences of the mid-century-set family adventure film were taped in New York City in the eponymous state. Since the wide-eyed, aviation-obsessed young boy and his mother kickstart their journey from the Big Apple, the decision to conduct filming in the city seems fitting. The crew seemingly captured the stunning cityscape of New York to ground the narrative in realism. According to reports, the scenes set in the airport were taped in Queens, specifically 16 miles southeast of Midtown Manhattan at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The international airport is located in the neighborhood of Jamaica on the southwestern shore of Long Island and has previously hosted the production of ‘Ocean’s Eight,’ ‘Person of Interest,’ ‘Old Dogs,’ and ‘Come Fly with Me,’ among others. In addition to that, the cast and crew were also spotted taping at the on-airport hotel, TWA Hotel.
Los Angeles, California
The cast and crew of the Apple TV production also visited the sprawling city of Los Angeles in Southern California to paint the visual canvas of the movie. ‘Propeller One-Way Night Coach’ seemingly features its iconic skyline, including the Hollywood area, as it is Jeff and Helen’s destination. You are likely to notice various landmarks and buildings in the backdrop of the establishing or exterior shots, including the Hollywood Sign, the Los Angeles City Hall, Venice Beach, Griffith Observatory, and Wilshire Grand Center.
