An adaptation of ‘Relationship Goals: How to Win at Dating, Marriage, and Sex’ by Pastor Michael Todd, Amazon Prime’s ‘Relationship Goals’ introduces us to a talented television producer named Leah Caldwell, who aspires to make history by becoming the first woman to run New York’s top morning show. However, the situation becomes challenging when her ex-boyfriend, Jarrett Roy, also competes for the same position at the show.
As Jarrett claims the New York Times bestseller ‘Relationship Goals’ changed him for the better, Leah and her friends become curious and dive deep into the life-changing book themselves. Although Leah’s priority is her career, it becomes difficult for her to ignore the reignition of romance with her old flame. Directed by Linda Mendoza, the faith-based romantic comedy movie features impressive performances from Kelly Rowland, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Robin Thede, Annie Gonzalez, Dennis Haysbert, and Matt Walsh. Set in New York City, the film primarily unfolds in the morning show’s office, serving as an unconventional backdrop for the romantic tale between Leah and Jarrett.
Relationship Goals Filming Locations
The shooting for ‘Relationship Goals’ was conducted primarily in Ontario, especially in and around Toronto. A few portions were also shot in Tulsa, Oklahoma. According to reports, principal photography for the Linda Mendoza directorial commenced around mid-March 2025 and continued for more than a month or so before wrapping up by the end of April of the same year. In the middle of the production, Michael Todd opened up about his experience on set. He stated, “Sitting here going over my lines….preparing for my next day on set——WHAT THE HECK ARE WE TALKING ABOUT 🤯🤯🤯🤯 And I am just overwhelmed thinking about how God has so intricately orchestrated this message and it’s evolution into a movie!”
Toronto, Ontario
Most of the pivotal sequences for ‘Relationship Goals’ were lensed in different parts of Toronto, which doubles as New York City. The filming unit set up camp in the bustling Entertainment District in the downtown area, where several key exterior portions were shot. The Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel at 123 Queen Street West also served as one of the prominent production locations that features in several important indoor and outdoor scenes. Furthermore, the cast and crew members were spotted taping various scenes in and around the Gothic Revival castle-style mansion — Casa Loma.
Situated at 1 Austin Terrace, it is a historic landmark that not only is utilized for film productions but also as a venue for wedding ceremonies. During a conversation with Essence, Pastor Michael Todd expressed his gratitude for working with his fellow cast members. He stated, “Working with Linda was an absolute joy—her excellence and vision brought this story to life in a powerful way. Seeing Kelly Rowland, one-third of Destiny’s Child, as the lead was truly a dream come true. Method Man representing relational transformation is a picture our culture desperately needs. Partnering with Devon Franklin was a win because he understood the vision and helped bring it to the world.”
Tulsa, Oklahoma
A significant portion of ‘Relationship Goals’ was also taped in the city of Tulsa, situated in the northeastern corner of Oklahoma. Pastor Michael Todd, along with his wife Natalie, has been a pastor of the Transformation Church. Located at 10441 South Regal Boulevard, the church served as a production location for several key portions, such as worship services and the pastors being interviewed. In the establishing shots of the Tulsa skyline, many of you might be able to spot numerous popular landmarks and buildings, including the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church, BOK Tower, First Place Tower, the 320 South Boston Building, and CityPlex West Tower.
