In the Sam Raimi directorial, ‘Send Help,’ we get acquainted with Linda Liddle, who works for an arrogant, overbearing employer named Bradley Preston. The tables turn when the two colleagues become the sole survivors of a plane crash and find themselves stranded on a secluded island. Now, they have no other option but to set aside their differences and work together in order to survive the unforgiving environment of the island.
Besides relying on each other for food and shelter, Linda and Bradley also confront past resentments and conflicts, which heighten tension between them. As time passes by and their resources become scarce, paranoia takes over, and there is a sudden shift in power dynamics. Featuring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, the survival horror thriller is a dark, twisted battle between the two survivors against the backdrop of a secluded island, which serves as an additional character that tests them at every turn.
Send Help Filming Locations
‘Send Help’ was primarily filmed in Australia and Thailand, particularly in Sydney, Phuket, and various islands in Thailand. A minor portion was also reportedly shot in Los Angeles, California. According to reports, principal photography for the Rachel McAdams starrer got underway around early February 2025 and went on for more than two months before wrapping up on April 17 of the same year. Zainab Azizi, one of the producers, took to social media after the conclusion of filming. She stated, “That’s a wrap on #SENDHELP ❤️🔥After years in the making, we wrapped principal photography on April 17. Grateful beyond words to everyone who helped bring this to life ✨✨from LA to Australia to Thailand.”
Sydney, Australia
A significant portion of ‘Send Help’ was lensed in Sydney, the capital city of Australia’s New South Wales. The production team reportedly made the most of the amenities of Disney Studios Australia at Building 16, 38 Driver Avenue in the suburb of Moore Park. Home to nine different sound stages, the film studio also offers a bunch of other facilities, including production offices, screening theaters, water tank facilities, art and costume rooms, and several exterior sets in the backlot area.
All these aspects of Disney Studios Australia make it an ideal filming destination for a wide range of projects, including the Dylan O’Brien starrer. Apart from ‘Send Help,’ Sydney has served as a production location for numerous film and TV projects over the years. Some of the notable ones include ‘Play Dirty,’ ‘Dark City,’ ‘The Invisible Man,’ ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still,’ ‘Playing Gracie Darling,’ ‘Pieces of Her,’ ‘Top of the Lake,’ and ‘Nine Perfect Strangers.’
Phuket, Thailand
Many pivotal sequences for ‘Send Help’ were taped in and around the province of Phuket, which comprises the eponymous island and several other smaller islands off its coast. Located in the southern part of Thailand, Phuket Island served as a primary filming site for various key outdoor portions. The filming unit also traveled to a few nearby islands and beaches, including Khao Pilai beach located in Takua Thung district in Phang Nga province, just north of Phuket. Several important scenes were also recorded on Khao Phing Kan, commonly known as James Bond Island, in Phang Nga Bay, and Khai Nai.
Other Locations in Thailand
For the purpose of shooting ‘Send Help,’ the cast and crew traveled to multiple other locations across Thailand, including the islands of Koh Khai Nok and Ko Ngai. They also set up camp on a few islands in the Trang province, which is situated in southern Thailand on the coast of the Andaman Sea. For instance, the islands of Ko Kradan and Ko Muk hosted the production of the Sam Raimi directorial. The iconic and popular Phi Phi Island also features in several outdoor scenes as the filming unit lensed some scenes on the scenic Maya Bay.
Los Angeles, California
Additional portions for ‘Send Help’ were also shot in the city of Los Angeles, located in Southern California. It is likely that the production team took over a film studio to tape a few key scenes. You might also spot numerous iconic landmarks and buildings in the backdrop of establishing shots of the city, such as the Los Angeles City Hall, Griffith Observatory, Venice Beach, Wilshire Grand Center, US Bank Tower, and Two California Plaza.
