Where is Showtime’s Reunion Filmed?

At the center of Showtime’s ‘Reunion,’ a powerful tale of revenge and redemption, is a deaf man named Daniel Brennan, who is released from prison after ten years of imprisonment for committing a heinous crime. The William Mager creation follows Daniel as he embarks on a mission to right his wrongs and uncover the truth about the events that caused his incarceration. With his past haunting him at every step of the turn, he finds it difficult to reconnect with his family and friends, all of whom seem to have ostracized him.

Not only is he distant from his loved ones, but he also seems to struggle connecting with the deaf community due to his criminal past. His relationship with his estranged daughter, Carly, is the only thing that keeps him afloat and encourages him to seek the truth. The story of the British crime drama series unfolds in Sheffield, while the grey clouds tend to represent Daniel’s violent past and the constant darkness looming over his head.

Reunion Filming Locations

Since ‘Reunion’ is set in Sheffield, it is only natural that the makers shoot the show primarily on location in Sheffield, England. Filming also took place in other parts of the country, including Doncaster and Derbyshire. According to reports, principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the series took place over the course of several months in the summer of 2024, between May and August.

Sheffield, England

A major chunk of ‘Reunion’ was lensed across the city of Sheffield, situated in South Yorkshire, England. In July 2024, the cast and crew members were spotted taping the scene involving the incident that led to Daniel’s incarceration in and around the Bath Hotel at 66-68 Victoria Street in the Broomhall district. Plenty of portions were taped inside the pub, while the alley right next to the pub also seemingly became the backdrop for some sequences. The production team also set up camp outside the Sheffield City Hall, a Grade II listed building located in Barker’s Pool, to shoot a scene between Christine and Stephen.

To shoot the scene of Ray’s memorial service, where the deaf protagonist tracks down an old acquaintance, the filming unit took over Tapton Hall on Shore Lane. An important sequence between Marsan and Duff also takes place in Endcliffe Park on Rustlings Road. The Endcliffe Park Cafe, located inside the park, was also turned into a film set for a scene or two. The crew members redressed Hell’s Kitchen Diner & Take-Away at 6 East Bank Road into a fictional cafe called Three Acres, where Cathy works. Lodge Moor and the surrounding areas, including the junction of Winchester Road and Barncliffe Road, also served as a filming site for ‘Reunion.’

The production team was also spotted at various other sites across Sheffield, including South Street Park at 21 South Street, Park Hill Flats, Meersbrook Park at 173 Chesterfield Road in the Meersbrook neighborhood, and Crookes Cemetery on Headland Road. Various streets and neighborhoods were also closed for filming purposes, such as Redmires Road, Norfolk Road, Marsh Lane, Crosspool, Stony Ridge Road, Hunter House Road, Roach Road, and Hunter Hill Road.

Other Locations in England

For the purpose of shooting, the filming unit of ‘Reunion’ also traveled to other locations in England, including Doncaster. Numerous areas of the city, which is also located in South Yorkshire, were transformed into film sets to tape several pivotal sequences. Situated in the Peak District of Derbyshire, the beautiful green fields of Winnats Pass also paint the backdrop of a few important outdoor scenes. In an interview with Deadline, William Mager was asked to talk about his experience of working with deaf crew members. “I was insistent with Warp Films from the start about different deaf crew that I thought could be a good fit for the Reunion set,” he said.

William added, “They interviewed a number of deaf and hard of hearing crew, and we ended up with a substantial number of them in our crew – Bim Ajadi, Sam Arnold, Teresa Garratty, Helen Griffiths, Maia Pavord, Coco Briden, Hugh Molloy and Phoebe Capewell to name a few! We also had new faces I’d never heard of or worked with before, which was great. To give so many deaf people the opportunity to work on a high-end TV drama was a really cool side bonus to getting Reunion made – not to mention the dozens of fantastic deaf actors who came in to play various roles in the show.”
