Where Was Slow Horses Season 5 Filmed?

Inspired by Mick Herron’s ‘Slough House’ novel series, Apple TV’s ‘Slow Horses’ is a British spy thriller series that centers on an MI5 unit, consisting of failed British intelligence agents, also known as the Slow Horses, who have made some critical errors in their respective careers. Led by Jackson Lamb, the dysfunctional team works together to investigate some gruesome crimes that haunt Britain. In the fifth season, tech nerd Roddy Ho starts dating an attractive woman, making everyone around him suspicious.

The titular agents find themselves surrounded by yet another mystery as a series of strange occurrences takes over the city. While they embark on a mission to get to the bottom of it all, the MI5 unit goes through several twists and turns. The dark and overcast setting of London symbolizes the cloud of crime that constantly hovers above the city as well as the personal struggles of the agents, enhancing the overall narrative of the show.

Slow Horses Season 5 Filming Locations

Following the pattern of previous seasons, the shooting for ‘Slow Horses’ season 5 primarily took place in England, particularly in and around London. From what we can tell, principal photography for the fifth iteration of the crime series was seemingly conducted over the fall of 2024, concluding in the month of October. Although the show is set in England, several of its locations are fictional. Thus, the production team cleverly utilized various real-life locales to double for the fictitious ones.

Various Locations, London

Most of the pivotal sequences for the fifth season of ‘Slow Horses’ were lensed on location in London. The production team returned to the recurring filming sites utilized in previous seasons, including Thames House. Located adjacent to Lambeth Bridge in Millbank, the office building once again doubled as the exterior of the MI5 headquarters. Moreover, the cast and crew also supposedly set up camp at 3 Mills Studios on Three Mill Lane in London.

Home to nearly a dozen separate sound stages spread across 75,000 square feet, the world-class film studio also consists of production offices, rehearsal rooms, prop stores, hair and make-up rooms, ample parking space, and more. For the exterior shots of the Slough House, officially known as the Aldersgate Annex, the filming unit utilized the real-life Slough House situated at 125 Aldersgate Street in London’s Barbican area. Numerous key portions for ‘Slow Horses’ season 5 were also taped in and around Conway Hall at 25 Red Lion Street.

In order to record multiple outdoor scenes on the streets, the production team also turned various areas into film sets, such as Jermyn Street in the St James’s area of the City of Westminster. In the establishing shots, you are likely to spot several iconic landmarks and buildings associated with the capital, including the London Eye, the Palace of Westminster, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey. Besides the crime drama series, London has hosted the production of various other notable movies and shows, such as ‘Spy Game,’ ‘After the Hunt,’ ‘Snatch,’ ‘The Beekeeper,’ ‘MobLand,’ ‘The Gentlemen,’ ‘The Night Manager,’ and ‘Gangs of London.’
