Snowbound for the Holidays: Filming Locations and Cast Details

Under the direction of Christopher Giroux, Hallmark’s ‘Snowbound for the Holidays’ is a romantic drama movie that centers on a successful, ambitious hotel executive named Cassidy Evergreen, who visits a small town to evaluate a struggling family ski lodge up for sale. Meanwhile, the lodge’s owner, Trey Sanderson, is trying his best to save the ski lodge. When Cassidy inevitably crosses paths with Trey, she is intrigued by the property’s local Christmas festival and drawn to its owner’s charm.

With time, she finds herself becoming attached to the lodge and Trey, which makes her personal feelings collide with her professional duties. Now, the savvy hotel executive must choose between duty and love. The romantic tale unfolds mostly in the cozy ski lodge during the holidays, with the magic of Christmas enhancing the narrative’s visual appeal and the chemistry between Cassidy and Trey.

Where Was Snowbound for the Holidays Filmed?

Production on ‘Snowbound for the Holidays’ took place entirely across Ontario, particularly in Mattawa, Toronto, Parry Sound, and North Bay. From what we can tell, principal photography for the Hallmark production got underway in February 2025 under the working title ‘Uphill for Christmas’ and wrapped up within a few weeks in early March of the same year. After the conclusion of the shooting process, the director, Christopher Giroux, took to social media and extended his gratitude to all the cast and crew members. He stated, “Massive thank you to each and every person who I had the privilege of working alongside on my feature length directing debut! Every single person who worked across all departments went above and beyond, including the wonderful town of Mattawa, making this an unforgettable shoot.”

Mattawa, Ontario

A major chunk of ‘Snowbound for the Holidays’ was lensed in the town of Mattawa, situated at the confluence of the Mattawa and Ottawa Rivers in Nipissing District. To be specific, the Mattawa River Resort and Cardinal Restaurant at 6251 Highway 17 doubled as Trey’s cozy family ski lodge. Situated along the serene banks of the Mattawa River, the resort provides guests with a relaxing and reflective space close to nature. It offers several cottages, some of which seemingly served as filming sites for the Hallmark movie, and a spacious campground along the stunning Mattawa River, allowing guests to enjoy the picturesque vistas and on-site amenities.

Other Locations in Ontario

For the purpose of shooting, the filming unit of ‘Snowbound for the Holidays’ also traveled to other locations across the province of Ontario, including the city of Toronto. The cast and crew members also seemingly set up camp in the town of Parry Sound, known for its natural freshwater port. In addition, the city of North Bay, which is the seat of Nipissing District, also reportedly hosted the production of the romantic movie.
