Created by Dean Nabarro and Andy Auerbach, Fox’s logic-based quiz game show ‘The 1% Club’ is the US version of the original ITV game show of the same name. It is a thoroughly entertaining test of the participants’ common sense, reasoning abilities, and logic skills, and begins with 100 people. However, the questions asked have been sorted in an increasing order of difficulty based on a pre-executed survey. The easier questions have been answered by a higher percentage of people, and the tougher ones by a lower percentage, the toughest question being the 1% question. As the questions get tougher, contestants get eliminated, with only a handful becoming eligible to win the $100,000 prize. Stand-up comedian/actor Patton Oswalt hosted the first Season while actor Joel McHale was brought in to host the second Season. Like any other game show, “The 1% Club” is known for its distinct visuals that are rigged out with a flashy customized set and lights.
The 1% Club Filming Location
Season 1 of ‘The 1% Club’ is filmed in California, specifically in a studio in Los Angeles, while Season 2 is filmed in a studio in Georgia’s Fayetteville. Filming of the inaugural iteration reportedly took place in the last quarter of 2023. Meanwhile, the sophomore season was reportedly taped between the second half of March 2025 and the first week of April the same year.
Fayetteville, Georgia
For Season 2, the production team resorted to the indoor spaces of the Trilith Studios, at 461 Sandy Creek Road in the city of Fayetteville, the seat of Georgia’s Fayette County. The 1000-acre studio boasts 34 sound stages, each catering to requirements ranging from size to purpose, including a virtual production volume stage called the Prysm Stage. It also offers 400 acres of backlot incorporating a special effects pad, woodlands and natural outdoor set pieces, an urban façade, and a pool with Greco-Roman architecture, as well as 187,000 square feet of workshop space. Trilith Studios is one of the largest production studios in the US and has hosted the production of reality shows like ‘Family Feud,’ ‘College Bowl,’ and ‘I Can See Your Voice.’
While Fayetteville serves as the base for a modern game show, it also offers its visitors a stroll down history as it has a lot of period architecture. Be it the charming downtown streetscapes, the square, or the idyllic natural landscapes, the city provides a soothing escape from the rush of daily life. It also served as the inspiration for Margaret Mitchell’s classic novel ‘Gone With the Wind.’ Well-known tourist hotspots include Fayette Environmental Education Center, Starr’s Mill Park, Holliday-Dorsey-Fife House, Lake Horton, and Fayette Pavilion Shopping Center.
