Based on Jenny Blackhurst’s novel titled ‘How I Lost You,’ Lifetime’s ‘The Boy With My Son’s Face’ is a thriller drama movie directed by Gigi Saul Guerrero. It follows the events in the life of Susan Webster, who struggles with severe Postpartum Depression after the birth of her son, Dylan. Her supportive husband, Mark, notices her sleepless nights and suggests starting medication for the condition and hiring a nanny, Amy, to help her take care of their newborn son. Just when things begin to fall back into place, Susan’s world turns upside down when her infant son dies, and she is held responsible for the crime.
Having served several years in prison, she is released on parole and hopes to start afresh. However, she comes across the photograph of a boy who resembles her late son — the only difference is that the boy in the picture is older and still alive. In order to delve deeper into the matter, Susan enlists the help of her intelligent friend, Cassie, with whom she uncovers a dark web of secrets about the people in her life. The suspenseful story primarily takes place in and around Susan’s residence and other settings, including prison and the suburban neighborhood.
Where Was The Boy With My Son’s Face Filmed?
Production on ‘The Boy With My Son’s Face’ was carried out in its entirety in British Columbia, specifically in and around Kelowna. According to reports, principal photography for the Lifetime production commenced on August 25, 2025, under the working title ‘How I Lost You’ and continued for nearly three weeks before wrapping up in mid-September of the same year. During a conversation with Digital Journal, Italia Ricci opened up about her experience of the shooting process. She stated, “It was great! I love Gigi and we had a blast shooting it. This is a dark movie but we actually laughed more than I cry and scream in it. So, overall, it was a good time.”
Kelowna, British Columbia
Situated on Okanagan Lake, the city of Kelowna served as the primary production location for ‘The Boy With My Son’s Face.’ During the filming procedure, the cast and crew members were spotted taping pivotal sequences in various streets and neighborhoods across the Orchard City. From what we can tell, a few key scenes were also recorded near Leon Avenue in Kelowna. Talking about the production, Italia Ricci also hoped that the viewers would “appreciate how talented Gigi and Diego are… the whole crew worked so hard.”
She added, “We did this film in Kelowna, B.C. where the film community there is pretty small. Everybody was so great. In the thriller movie, Italia Ricci portrays Susan Webster, the mother who gets falsely convicted of killing her newborn son.
