An adaptation of the eponymous comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, Prime Video’s ‘The Boys’ is a satirical superhero comedy series that centers on a group of individuals with superpowers, also known as “Supes.” While they appear to be working as a team for Vought International on the surface, they often abuse their powers and positions for personal gain. In the fifth season of the Eric Kripke creation, the Boys appear to be scattered while Homelander dominates the world and the headlines.
In order to defeat Homelander, Billy Butcher works to reunite the Boys and stop Homelander from using a deadly virus capable of obliterating all the Supers in the world. The action-adventure series is brought to life by the compelling performances from Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, and more, who add intensity and depth to every scene. The final chapter of the saga is also set in the familiar world, with Vought headquarters serving as a constant backdrop that further enriches the narrative’s visual tone.
The Boys Season 5 Filming Locations
Just like the majority of the previous seasons, ‘The Boys’ season 5 was also filmed primarily in Ontario, particularly in and around Toronto. Principal photography for the fifth and final season of the popular superhero show got underway in the last week of November 2024 under the working title ‘Framed’ and continued for several months before wrapping up in early July 2025. From what we can tell, the five-season journey proved to be a fulfilling experience for the cast and crew members.
One of the many cast and crew members who took to social media to share their thoughts on the show’s conclusion is Karl Urban, who plays the ruthless and cunning Billy Butcher. Most of the pivotal sequences for ‘The Boys’ season 5 were reportedly lensed across the city of Toronto and a few surrounding areas. As in the previous seasons, the exterior and interiors of the Roy Thomson Hall at 60 Simcoe Street in Toronto doubled as the headquarters of Vought International, where the Supes work. While a few indoor spots of the concert hall were utilized for shooting, the production team mostly set up camp on sound stages, especially on Stage 9, at one of the film studios situated in or around the city to record interior scenes, involving the Vought offices and Homelander’s apartment.
The downtown area of Toronto also served as a key production location for the fifth iteration of the superhero series. Moreover, the cast and crew members were spotted taping several important scenes at York University at 4700 Keele Street in the administrative district of North York, situated in the northern area of Toronto. Describing her last two days on set, Karen Fukuhara wrote that “it was an emotional rollercoaster, at times uncontrollable with bittersweet sadness and a desperate longing to grasp onto whoever I could before having to say goodbye…But it was the perfect send off.”
She added, “Thank you for going on this ride with me. THE BOYS was pure magic. A fever dream. I feel incredibly lucky to have experienced this through my work in this lifetime.” Apart from ‘The Boys,’ the capital city of the province of Ontario has served as a prominent production hub for numerous film and TV projects over the years. Toronto has also been dubbed the Hollywood of the North, a colloquialism it shares with Vancouver. Some of the popular ones include ‘Suicide Squad,’ ‘The Shape of Water,’ ‘Fantastic Four,’ ‘Shazam!,’ ‘Locke & Key,’ ‘What We Do in the Shadows,’ ‘The Umbrella Academy,’ and ‘Shadowhunters.’
