Alexander’s life turns upside down when he realizes that his brain is hacked. As his senses are compromised, the perpetrators have access to everything he sees and hears.

While his loyalty is doubted by his employers, he must find out the identity of the hackers and prove his allegiance to The Orphanage. For that, the analyst must act completely normal all the time. The suspenseful tale of the spy thriller series, featuring Simu Liu, Melissa Barrera, Sinclair Daniel, Brian d’Arcy James, and Mark O’Brien, unfolds in a multitude of locations, including the office of The Orphanage, the residence of Alexander, and more, all contributing to bringing the story to life.

‘The Copenhagen Test’ is filmed primarily in the province of Ontario, specifically in and around Toronto. According to reports, principal photography for the inaugural iteration of the thriller series commenced in October 2024 and went on for more than four months before wrapping up in the first week of March 2025.

For the purpose of filming, the cast and crew of ‘The Copenhagen Test’ set up base in Toronto, the capital of the province of Ontario. Several locales of the port city were utilized to construct the world of Alexander Hale as he strives to figure out a way to fix his life after learning his brain has been hacked. Filming particularly took place in the downtown area of the city. Since the shooting was carried out during the months of the winter, the cast and crew braved persistent chilly weather that led them to huddle together and create fun memories. As they spent nights in the same rooms, playing games after work or simply catching up after a hectic shoot, a natural camaraderie formed between the team members. Melissa Barrera, who plays Michelle in the science fiction spy show, opened up about he experience filming in the cold.

“I don’t know how Torontonians do it. My two chihuahuas had boots and coats. It snowed from October to March. But it makes sense for the show. People are going to be watching it in winter, cozy at home. It’ll feel right,” she shared. Owing to its state-of-the-art production facilities, easy accessibility to efficient technicians and local talent, favorable weather conditions, diverse landscape that can convincingly depict numerous settings, film-friendly policies, and lucrative tax incentives, Toronto has established itself as a renowned filming location across the globe. Accordingly, it is also dubbed Hollywood of the North, a colloquialism it shares with Vancouver. Thus, to enhance the visual aesthetic of the narrative, the production team decided to shoot in the city.
