Adapted from the eponymous short story written by Manuel Gonzalez, Peacock’s ‘The Miniature Wife’ is a sci-fi romantic comedy series created by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner. The narrative follows Lindy and Les Littlejohn, a struggling married couple with complicated power dynamics. While the former is a published author going through writer’s block, her husband is a scientist working on miniaturization technology. When Les accidentally shrinks his wife to six inches tall with his miniaturization technology, the couple gets a chance to reevaluate their feelings for one another.
Their battle for power within the marriage is made all the more complicated. However, it could also serve as a catalyst for the reset that Lindy and Les needed to as they work together to undo the technological accident. Led by Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen, the drama show also features Zoe Lister-Jones, Sofia Rosinsky, O-T Fagbenle, and Sian Clifford. The tale of shifting power dynamics between the married couple unfolds primarily in their home, especially around the miniature home where small-sized Lindy lives after the mishap.
The Miniature Wife Filming Locations
‘The Miniature Wife’ is filmed in Ontario, specifically in and around Toronto. Principal photography for the debut season of the Peacock production got underway in late January 2025 under the working title ‘Magoo’ and went on for more than five months before wrapping up in early July of the same year.
Toronto, Ontario
Most of the pivotal sequences for ‘The Miniature Wife’ were lensed in the capital city of Ontario — Toronto. During the shooting process, the cast and crew members were spotted filming key outdoor scenes near Lake Shore Boulevard and Windermere Avenue. The production team also reportedly took over Dundas Street West and Grace Street and turned them into film sets, where they shot a few portions for the Matthew Macfadyen starrer. As for the miniature universe depicted in the series, it was created by the crew members. Talking about it in detail with Variety, O-T Fagbenle added, “All these props and sets were super realistic. In a way, it’s another character in the show, this small world, and it was done in a completely original way.”
Sian Clifford also revealed, “They had a giant AirPod that became a phone. And a set of Lego stairs! It was pretty amazing.” While working in front of a green screen all alone on the dollhouse set, Elizabeth Banks often looked at a pair of eyeballs about 40 feet in the air in order to get a reference point for an eyeline, given her miniaturized character. During a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, she added, “I spent a lot of time alone in a mug having a conversation with a camera that is 150 feet away from me to give the right perspective. The level of imagination and vulnerability that that required, it was a lot to carry. I have not felt that vulnerable in a really long time. It was incredibly challenging.”

She spent a significant amount of time with her co-star, Matthew, so as to easily “imagine him doing whatever he was doing in a scene.” Moreover, before starting to shoot any sequence, the two usually read the script out loud with each other. Elizabeth elaborated, “The person who shot second got to watch the reference of the person who shot first.” Other notable movies and TV shows filmed in Toronto include ‘Good Will Hunting,’ ‘Cruel Intentions,’ ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,’ ‘The Shape of Water,’ ‘Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen,’ ‘Lars and the Real Girl,’ ‘Fellow Travelers,’ ‘ Degrassi: The Next Generation,’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast.’
