Where is The Snake Filmed? Shooting Location of the Fox Show

Fifteen master manipulators, pros at their respective games, AKA professions, come together to compete against each other for $100,000 in Fox’s survival reality show ‘The Snake.’ In the show, created by Sally Ann Salsano and hosted by comedian Jim Jefferies, talented individuals are tested based on their ability to not only perform but also manipulate. It incorporates challenges or tasks, each one having a new winner who becomes “the Snake.”

The person thereby becomes the head of a saving ceremony, a chain reaction elimination round that continues till there are two people remaining. The Snake then makes the call and sends one of them home. Building connections is crucial, whether it is real or fake, and the main objective of each participant is to figure out the real motives of the others. The backdrops play a primary role in highlighting the show’s theme, which is as private as it is publicized.

The Snake Filming Locations

‘The Snake’ is filmed entirely in Argentina, specifically in Puerto Iguazú. Principal photography seemingly took place between April and May 2025. The participants from various parts of the US were flown to Argentina, where they filmed for over a month. Jefferies spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about his experience hosting the show. “I’ve been training for this job my whole life. Growing up in Australia, and now living in Hollywood, I’ve been around plenty of snakes,” he stated.

Puerto Iguazú, Argentina

The production team traveled to Puerto Iguazú, a border city in the province of Misiones, located in the northeastern corner of Argentina, for filming. The Hotel Guaminí Misión at 337 Río Paraná Avenue became the base for the shoot. Nestled within nature, the hotel is reputed for its 17th-century Jesuit Reductions theme, which enhances its appearance as a true example of the Americas’ architecture. The crew created sets in various indoor and outdoor sections, transforming them into suitable backgrounds for various tasks. The hotel boasts an exclusive service for its guests, who can choose from a variety of rooms, including deluxe rooms and suites, experience first-class cuisine at the La Misión Restaurant, enjoy a relaxing time at the pool, and spend time at the gym. Nearby attractions include the Iguazú Falls and the Misiones jungle.

Puerto Iguazú’s humid subtropical climate aids in highlighting the naturalistic setting, especially since the game involves snakes. The crew may have also used other areas of the city for a few tasks to integrate variety. It is a tourism-based city that has garnered much of its reputation due to the Iguazú Falls, Three Frontiers, Mbororé Museum, Güira Oga Center for Bird Rehabilitation, and Iguazú Grand Hotel and Casino. Misiones itself served as a site of early Roman Catholic missionary activity and is known for Devil’s Throat of the Iguazú Falls, the Jesuit ruins, Parque Nacional Iguazú, and Hito Argentino. The province also hosts many festivals like the Fiesta Provincial de la Cerveza, Fiesta Nacional de Té, the Camp Viera tea celebration, and the Leandro N. Alem beer festival. Other reality shows shot in Argentina include ‘Love Is Blind: Argentina,’ ‘Wipeout,’ ‘The Challenge: USA,’ and ‘Treasure Quest: Snake Island.’
