Based on ‘De Verraders’ by Marc Pos and Jasper Hoogendoorn, NBC’s ‘The Traitors: New Blood’ is a reality competition show with a premise similar to the parent series ‘The Traitors.’ The only difference is that, instead of celebrities and TV personalities, civilian contestants compete in the social deduction game. In the spin-off series, a few participants are chosen as the Traitors, while others are automatically assigned as the Faithful. While the goal of the Traitors is to eliminate the Faithful one by one in order to steal the grand cash prize for themselves, the Faithful must deduce who the Traitors are and vote them out in a game of deception and treachery. Hosted by Alan Cumming, the show is set in the Scottish Highlands, where the isolated castle and its surrounding areas reflect the high stakes of the competition.
The Traitors: New Blood Filming Locations
Following the pattern of the original series, ‘The Traitors: New Blood’ is filmed in Scotland, particularly in and around Ardross. From what we can tell, principal photography for the debut season of the spin-off series took place in the spring of 2026, likely between May and June. The picturesque natural landscape of Scotland adds beauty and depth to the competition’s visuals, in contrast to its dark and deceptive themes.
Ardross, Scotland
The production team of ‘The Traitors: New Blood’ set up camp in the rural area of Ardross in the Scottish Highlands to lens most of the pivotal sequences. They returned to the Ardross Castle, where the parent show is also shot, located about 30 miles north of Inverness. The 19th-century castle is surrounded by beautiful, lush green gardens, where the contestants reside, indulging in the game of deception for a grand cash prize. Various interior spots across the castle feature in the show, including the grand dining room, where the contestants meet each morning for breakfast, and the dark room, where heated round-table discussions take place.
Apart from being a filming location for movies and TV shows, Ardross Castle is also a popular venue for weddings and other events. The filming unit also utilized the surrounding 100-acre parklands to tape several important scenes as they compete in different kinds of tasks in and around the castle. The Gothic Revival design of the castle complements the dark, eerie, and psychological themes of ‘The Traitors: New Blood.’ Besides the UK version of the game show, the Ardross Castle also serves as the production location for the US version.
