Created by Chris Coelen, Netflix’s ‘The Ultimatum: Queer Love’ is a dating reality show that is a spin-off of ‘The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On.’ Following a similar pattern as the inaugural iteration, the second season acquaints us with six new queer couples, coming from different walks of life. The couples have one thing in common — they must decide if they wish to take the next step in their relationship or not. While one partner wants to get married, the other still appears to be in doubt about the future, owing to reasons of their own.
Thus, as part of an ultimatum that would help them decide their relationship’s fate, the couples split up temporarily for eight weeks, during which they enter a trial marriage with someone else. The dating experiment is hosted by JoAnna Garcia Swisher as the couples reunite with each other after their respective trial marriages to decide the future of their relationships. The scenic backdrops and luxurious stays in the second season became the backdrop for a whole lot of drama as tensions arose between the couples.

‘The Ultimatum: Queer Love’ season 2 was reportedly filmed across Florida, especially in Miami and seemingly in Fort Lauderdale. According to reports, principal photography for the sophomore round took place in the summer of 2022 and wrapped up by the first week of July. In an interview with Variety, Chris Coelen, the executive producer and CEO of Kinetic Content, revealed, “We’ve already filmed Season 2. We’re in edit on Season 2 right now. It’s really exciting. I am deep, deep into post [production] on the show now, and it’s great.”
Miami, Florida
A majority of ‘The Ultimatum: Queer Love’ season 2 was lensed in and around Miami, the coastal city situated in South Florida. To be specific, the Grove Central Residences at 2800 Southwest 27th Terrace in the city of Miami served as one of the prominent production locations for the second season. Consisting of different kinds of flats, from studios up to five bedrooms, the apartment complex provides impeccably designed flats with a stunning view of the cityscape and bay. The cast and crew members reportedly made the most of the expansive property and amenities to tape several pivotal sequences for the dating show.
Within the city of Miami, the production team also set up camp at other sites and establishments. Some of the popular landmarks or places of interest that might be featured in the backdrop include the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, Bayside Marketplace, Kaseya Center, Wynwood Art District, and Little Havana. Many date scenes were also shot on the beachside, as some of the couples also went on parasailing dates. From the looks of it, the coastal resort city of Miami Beach also hosted the production of season 2 of the Netflix show. An important coastal city in the Miami metropolitan area, Fort Lauderdale is another key filming site where certain scenes were seemingly taped.
