Created by Heather Conkie, Alexandra Clarke, and Marly Reed, Hallmark’s ‘The Way Home‘ is a fantasy drama series that centers on the Landry family, including Kat Landry, her teenage daughter Alice, and her mother Del. Determined and independent, the three generations of women go on their respective self-introspective journeys, while Alice and Kat move between the past and present. In the fourth season, Alice is on the verge of graduating from high school, Kat and Elliot think about the future of their relationship, and Del must be ready to be an empty-nester once again. Sooner rather than later, all of them realize that the past never gets erased. The fourth season uncovers new mysteries and revelations that affect the dynamics within the Landry family. The familial tale unfolds in the fictional town of Port Haven, serving as a bridge between past and future.
The Way Home Season 4 Filming Locations
Just like previous seasons, ‘The Way Home’ season 4 was also filmed entirely in Ontario, specifically in the Greater Toronto Area. Principal photography for the fourth and final iteration of the drama series reportedly commenced in August 2025 and went on for over three months before wrapping up in late November of the same year. At the end of the shooting process, Devin Cecchetto expressed her gratitude for being a part of the show. She stated, “Truly honoured to have joined this show for the last two years it has been amazing to be apart of season 3&4 ! I can not express how grateful I am ! AND !!! I cannot wait for everyone too see this truly extraordinary season!! With all our new friends ! timelines and story’s ! Always feels like home.”
Greater Toronto Area, Ontario
The Greater Toronto Area has served as the primary production location for ‘The Way Home’ since its inaugural iteration. For the fourth and final season, the metropolitan area was once again transformed into the fictional land of Port Haven. In the township of Scugog, the filming unit set up camp at the Old Mill at 139 Queen Street in Port Perry, where they built the set for the fictional Point Cafe. The nearby Palmer Park at 175 Water Street also hosted the production of the fantasy series.
For the purpose of shooting, the cast and crew members reportedly set up camp in and around the Parkwood National Historic Site at 270 Simcoe Street North in the city of Oshawa. The former residence of the McLaughlin family was officially designated a National Historic Site in 1989. In addition, the pivotal sequences involving the Landry home were taped in the property at 4698 Sideline 12 in the unincorporated community of Claremont. The exterior as well as interior of the house feature in many key portions throughout the fourth season.
From what we can tell, the production team also utilized a few locales in the city of Toronto to shoot the show. Apart from ‘The Way Home,’ the GTA features in a wide range of movies and TV shows. Some of the notable ones include ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife,’ ‘The Dead Zone,’ ‘Welcome to Mooseport,’ ‘Bulletproof Monk,’ ‘The Thanksgiving Treasure,’ ‘Station Eleven,’ ‘Heroes Reborn,’ and ‘Hemlock Grove.’
