Who is Zach? Who Plays Him in My Life With the Walter Boys?

The second season of Netflix’s ‘My Life With the Walter Boys‘ focuses on the love triangle between Jackie Howard and the Walter brothers, Alex and Cole. However, there is another Walter brother who finds himself in the middle of a love triangle this season. Nathan Walter has been in a relationship with Skylar since Season 1, but Season 2 introduces Zach, an enigmatic senior who has a lot in common with Nathan. The character becomes more prominent over the season and plays a pivotal role in deciding the fate of Nathan and Skylar’s relationship. SPOILERS AHEAD.

Zach’s Interest in Nathan Causes a Rift Between Him and Skylar

The second season of ‘My Life With the Walter Boys’ introduces Zach, a senior who is interested in photography. He has been around in the school before, but didn’t come into focus until he started showing interest in Nathan. While Nathan is already with Skylar, he feels a little disconnected from his boyfriend because of certain differences in their hobbies and interests. Nathan finds this common ground with Zach, who seems to like the same music as him. Another thing that draws Nathan towards Zach is the fact that he showers the Walter boy with the attention that sometimes feels lacking from Skylar’s end. The more Nathan gets to know him, the more attracted he is to this new guy, and Skylar can see it as well.

Eventually, Nathan and Zach share a kiss at the school dance, following which Skylar breaks up with Nathan, and soon, he enters a relationship with Zach. While the two are pretty lovey-dovey with each other, it does not escape anyone’s attention that Nathan seems to have lost himself in Zach. He seems to be losing interest in his own hobbies and is more invested in what Zach likes. Initially, Nathan doesn’t see it, but then, when Alex points it out, he realizes that perhaps the others are right. He is further alarmed when Skylar tells him that there is more to Zach than he knows, and when Nathan asks his new boyfriend about it, a shocking truth comes to light.

It turns out that before Nathan and Skylar got together, Skylar was in a secret relationship with Zach. The problem was that Skylar was out, but Zach wasn’t, which made it difficult for them to be together in public. Eventually, Skylar figured that they were at different points in their lives and could not be together. So, he broke up with Zach. By the time Zach came out, Skylar was already in a relationship with Nathan. This is when Nathan realizes that the whole thing was a setup by Zach to get back at Skylar, for whom he still harbors strong feelings. This means that Zach courted Nathan just to make Skylar jealous. Sure enough, once Nathan breaks up with him, Zach goes to Skylar, asking him to be together now that they are both single. This shows that Zach’s heart had always been set on Skylar, and all the time he spent circling Nathan was for his own selfish ends.

Carson MacCormac Brings Zach’s Complex Nature to Life

Zach is an increasingly complicated character who goes from an intriguing love interest to a master manipulator who becomes the villain of Nathan and Skylar’s story. Despite his villainy, there is a depth to his character that makes him more complex than initially imagined, and actor Carson MacCormac does a great job of bringing those nuances of his character to the screen. Acting since the age of eight, Carson has dedicated his life to the art of bringing stories and characters to life. He started out working in musical theatre, but soon moved to movies and TV shows. He has worked on indie projects like ‘Cold Hands,’ ‘East of Middle West,’ ‘Riot Girls,’ ‘Giant Little Ones,’ and ‘Thinly Veiled’ (which he co-wrote and produced), as well as in blockbusters like the ‘Shazam!’ movies.

He has also appeared in several Netflix projects like ‘Locke and Key’, ‘Luckiest Girl Alive’, and ‘October Faction.’ The actor aims to expand his filmography by exploring a range of characters over a variety of genres. About his role in ‘My Life With the Walter Boys,’ he revealed that he had a great time on set, portraying a character as layered as Zach. Despite his flaws, the actor tried to find empathy for Zach and understand why he does what he does. This approach allowed him to get into Zach’s headspace and portray him more authentically. Carson’s approach to his roles displays his immense passion for filmmaking. When he is not consumed with his work, the Raptors fan likes to play guitar, work out, read books, and spend time with his friends and family.
