The filming of Angel Studios’ upcoming Biblical series ‘Testament’ is scheduled to commence in London, England, in December this year. The show is a follow-up to the 2022 film ‘Testament: The Parables Retold.’ It is a modern-day retelling of the Book of Acts. While the original film focuses on the parables of Jesus, the television series begins in Acts 2 on the Day of Pentecost and focuses on a small group of believers’ journey through danger and persecution.

Due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, the involvement of the American artists in this American-English co-production can be affected. London, where the shoot is set to commence, is known for its iconic landmarks and architecture. The city offers a blend of modern and historical settings, which makes it an ideal location for the production of diverse projects. London has earlier hosted the filming of several  shows and films such as ‘The Crown,’ ‘The Continental: From the World of John Wick,’ ‘Sherlock,’ ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,’ ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,’ and ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.’

Paul Syrstad, who directed the original film, serves as the creator and director of the multi-season series as well. The filmmaker previously helmed ‘The Parables Retold,’ an anthology series of short films that earned him multiple nominations for Best Director at the International Christian Film Festival. He also directed the short films ‘Lights Out’ and ‘Rainbowgale.’ In 2017, he formed the faith-based production company, Roarlight.

Along with Paul, the series is written by Kenneth Omole and Faith Syrstad. Both served as associate producers of ‘Testament: The Parables Retold.’ Omole is known for starring as John Mark in the original film. He also appears as an actor in the crime thriller series ‘Top Boy.’ The cast of the show has not been announced yet. Notably, the original film’s cast members include Charithra Chandran, Ben Turner, Sule Rimi, Tina Barnes, Louis Hall, David Webber, and others.

The makers have stated that the series explores the themes of “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Through a modern-day setting of the Book of Acts, they believe that the show will appeal to the younger generations. The series is produced by Roarlight with Angel Studios set to distribute the project. The studio is known for distributing the feature films ‘His Only Son’ and ‘Sound of Freedom.’
