Season 5 of Fox’s ‘Next Level Chef’ introduced several professional cooks to the world, among whom was Darian Bryan. He immediately stood out due to his determination and inspiring backstory. As a member of Richard Blais’ team, he consistently impressed the judges by transforming simple, limited ingredients into dishes filled with vibrant flavors. There were moments he struggled to define the vision for his dish, but he repeatedly overcame those obstacles. Even when Darian found himself facing elimination, he fought his way through the intense cook-off and secured his place. By the end, his consistency and growth carried him to the Finale, where he proudly became the winner after impressing the judges with a cohesive and delicious three-course menu.
Darian Bryan’s Culinary Degree Helped Him Expand His Entrepreneurial Vision
Long before Darian Bryan emerged as the show’s winner, he had spent years sharpening his culinary vision and building a career rooted in passion and discipline. In 2014, he graduated from Erie Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts and Chef Training. To gain a deeper understanding of the culinary industry, he later continued his education at Buffalo State University. By 2017, Darian earned a degree in Hospitality Administration and Management from the institution. Additionally, during that degree, he also studied Restaurant, Culinary, and Catering Management/Manager.
While pursuing his studies, Darian was already gaining hands-on experience in professional kitchens. He began his trajectory in May 2014, when he became the Sous Chef at Hutch’s Restaurant. He remained there until July 2017, refining his skills. Ultimately, his ambitions led him to open his own culinary boutique, The Plating Society, in September 2018. There, Darian became the Executive Chef and began offering elevated fine-dining experiences inspired by authentic Jamaican flavors and culture. From February 2019 to April 2020, he briefly served as an Executive Chef at Avi Food Systems Inc.
As of writing, Darian has also begun pursuing acting alongside his career as a chef and entrepreneur. He has further earned several features in publications and platforms such as The New York Times, Food & Wine magazine, CBS, and ESPN. Currently, Darian has become the owner of his second restaurant, Bratts Hill, an upscale Jamaican eatery in Buffalo, New York. This restaurant seamlessly reflects his heritage and his evolving mark in the culinary industry. In April 2026, Darian announced that he would open his third eatery, Reserve Steakhouse, in June. Moreover, by the fall of this year, he expects to open the doors to Reserve Steakhouse’s sister restaurant, Back of House Burger.

Over time, Darian has been expanding his presence on social media, especially Instagram, where he has surpassed 94.1K followers. Darian has collaborated with several brands over the years, including Snickers and Bison Dip. In November 2025, he set up the non-profit organization, Chef Darian Bryan Foundation Inc. It aimed to support hurricane relief efforts during Hurricane Melissa, highlighting the chef’s commitment to the community. In that same month, Darian was interviewed by Madeline Hall. During that time, the chef shared his early childhood struggles and his journey toward becoming a professional chef. By December, he had a paid partnership with P&G PRO, followed by another collaboration with Upstate Farms. One month later, he bagged a partnership with Hestan Culinary. In February 2026, Darian was interviewed on Television Jamaica’s ‘Smile Jamaica.’
There, Darian spoke candidly about his rise in the global culinary arena following his appearance on ‘Next Level Chef.’ Shortly after, he announced the 6th annual Jamaican Market, scheduled for July 18th, 2026. He has continued to improve his brand presence through his collaboration with Adrian Jules Custom Clothing and The Saturn Club. By March 2026, Darian teamed up with the brand, Turkish Seafood. In the following month, he exclusively joined hands with Best Dressed Plate and Wyndham Grand Barbados, Sam Lord’s Castle. At the time, Darian was revealed as the featured chef for the Navigator’s Table Residency and served guests with his signature Caribbean innovation-themed menu.

Besides that, Darian maintains a close and loving bond with his mother, Althea Allen, who remains one of the strongest pillars of his life. He frequently expresses his affection toward her, acknowledging her role in shaping his life and values.
