Deli Boys Season 2 Recap

The first job on the Dars’ agenda this season is to secure a money laundering arrangement to bring all their illegal cash back into circulation. Since overtaking the business, their profits have tripled, and they have declared themselves the biggest fish in Philly. This means their laundering needs have also grown. Naturally, this brings them to the man best suited for the job: Max Sugar of the Sugar Palace Casino. Off-the-bat, the casino owner is happy to comply with their terms, if only for a chance to pursue a romance with Lucky. Even though the latter remains strict about her rule against mixing business with pleasure, she agrees to hear Max out. While this results in a hookup, Lucky still remains reluctant about jumping into business with the man.

That is, until an armed robbery happens at the DarCo Deli and Max shows up at the opportune moment. Meanwhile, Chadwater, a front-running mayoral candidate, learns about the possible collaboration between the Dar family and the casino owner. This compels him to shape his entire campaign around a hard crackdown on drugs in the city and a pursuit of the local gangs. Initially, Max tries to solve this problem by bribing the politician, but he refuses to budge. Back in the Dar household, Mir comes up with a plan to buy a Golf Club as a milestone that will honor Baba’s memory. Around the same time, the brothers receive a message from Ahmad, the traitor responsible for Baba’s death. He makes demands of a million dollars or threatens to air out the crime family’s dirty laundry.

As a result, Lucky instructs her nephews to meet Ahmad at the drop location and kill him. While Raj is on board with the plan, Mir, who is concerned with how a possible scandal might interfere with the purchase of the golf course, opposes the plan. Even so, despite his efforts to stop the other, his younger brother arrives at the right place at the right time. Later, news comes out about an explosion at Fishtown, which has resulted in the death of Ahmad. Immediately afterward, Raj is arrested and sent to prison as the leading suspect in the murder case. Nonetheless, he maintains his innocence. In the legal battle that follows to secure bail for the youngest Dar, an ex from Lucky’s past makes an appearance, complicating things between her and Max. Fortunately, in the end, everything works out both for Raj, who gets out on bail, and Lucky’s relationship.

Even so, it creates a momentary dispute between the brothers. However, they have bigger problems to deal with, namely, finding the real culprit behind Ahmad’s death. Surprisingly enough, in their pursuit of the same, they manage to bury the hatchet between them and make a startling discovery. As it turns out, the traitor is alive and had faked his death to frame the youngest Dar. When Lucky learns about the same, she’s eager to kill. Nonetheless, they need him alive to prove Raj’s innocence. On the other hand, Chadwater’s investigation into Max bears fruit, giving him major leverage over him. As a result, the casino owner agrees to flip on Lucky and the others to save his own skin. Ultimately, things unravel in unpredictable ways.

Deli Boys Season 2 Ending: Who Sent the Dar Brothers the Poisonous Gift?

At the end of ‘Deli Boys’ season 2, the Dar family finds themselves back on top. They have managed to clear their name, get rid of Max, and neutralize the threat Chadwater posed. Therefore, everything finally seems to be coming up for Mir, Raj, and Lucky. Therefore, it’s only a matter of time before disaster strikes. While the trio enjoys their victory lap, their new lair receives a gift from an anonymous sender. In the attached note, the sender congratulates the brothers for their success and makes another cryptic claim: the return of the eldest Dar. However, this message doesn’t seem to be referencing Mir at all.

This much becomes clear by the look of terror on Lucky’s face and the ensuing chaos that follows after Matthew eats the gift confectionery, which is apparently poisoned. Although the show ends on this cliffhanging note, the implication remains clear. Another Dar will be arriving in Philadelphia in the future. From the looks of it, it seems like Baba had another secret child, the eldest, who was cut off from the family for some ambiguous reason. The gravity of this separation was so severe that Mir and Raj had no idea about the existence of their mysterious sibling.

On the other hand, it seems like Lucky may be familiar with the third Dar sibling. Furthermore, if her reaction is anything to go by, she doesn’t seem very thrilled about the prospect of their return. Lastly, the poisoned gift sends a clear message. Whoever this eldest Dar is, they have no plans of tearful, heartfelt family reunions. Instead, they’re coming for their piece of the pie, and they have no interest in playing nice to get it. Ultimately, the identity of this mystery character will only be revealed in a potential future season.

Is Matthew Dead?

In season 2, Matthew proves to be a key player who becomes the unofficial fourth member of the Dar family clan. He has always been hyper-loyal to Baba, which now extends to his sons. Therefore, he’s one of the only people whom the brothers and aunt can implicitly trust. They prove the same by planting him as a mole inside Chadwater’s mayoral office to extract important data about his crusade against them. Later, Matthew helps out by subtly holding Max’s daughter, Seven, hostage to ensure that Lucky and the others can execute the rest of the plan.

Therefore, it’s clear that Matthew is an important member of the family. However, from the looks of it, things might not end well for the hired criminal. He’s the one who brings the anonymous gift to the Dars in their new office at the casino. While they analyze the note attached to it, Matthew munches on the accompanying food. By the time Lucky can warn him about the possible danger of the gift, he seems to have already eaten it. As a result, the last we see of him, he’s lying on the ground, poisoned. Matthew’s survival depends entirely upon the amount of lethality behind the gift sent by Mir and Raj’s mystery sibling. For now, the character’s fate hangs in the air.

Does Chadwater Become Mayor?

Throughout season 2, Chadwater brings a new brand of threat to the Dar family. While they have dealt with law enforcement and rival gangs before, this is the first time they’re faced with a government official directly. The mayoral candidate has a bone to pick with the crime family. He has unwavering anti-drug stances as a result of losing his ex-husband to addiction. Never mind the fact that his addiction started before the Dars came into power, Chadwater has decided to hold them responsible for the tragedy. Therefore, he’s eager to get them behind bars. Moreover, he’s willing to bend his morals to do so.

For the same reason, Chadwater happily teams up with Max, who promises to bring the Dars to him by double-crossing them. Nonetheless, Mir, Raj, and their aunt learn about this scheme before it can come to fruition. Naturally, Lucky is betrayed and deceived by the development and is eager for her now ex-boyfriend’s head. However, she comes up with a better way to kill two birds with one stone. The family taggers Seven, the casino owner’s daughter, and plant Matthew as an agent beside her to secretly hold her hostage. Afterward, they use this against Max to force him into doing their bidding.

As a result, he ends up double-crossing Chadwater’s expected double-cross. After the politician arrives at the casino to prove the connection between the crime family and their money laundering front, Max and the Dars goad him into blurting out the reality of how he framed Joey Tomatoes to secure his political success. Once they have this on camera, they effectively have Chadwater in their pocket. Afterward, they have a proposition for him. Recently, his crusade against the Dar family, particularly Raj, who was branded the Fuck Me Felon during his trial, has cost him a lot of popularity points among voters. Therefore, Lucky offers to have Raj endorse him to ensure he wins the election. Thus, in the end, the family manages to put a mayor in office who will have their best interest at heart.

What Happens to Max and His Daughter? What Happens to His Casino?

In time, Max reveals himself to be a snake who never truly cared for the Dar brothers or Lucky. Even before Chadwater, he had been sowing seeds of doubt to possibly steer the aunt away from her nephews. Notably, he takes her into couples counseling in an attempt to convince her that her relationship with the boys is too toxic and unhealthy and that she deserves to step away from all of it. Although Lucky nearly falls for it, she has no intention of ever following through. For her, Mir and Raj are as good as her own blood, and she has no plans of deprioritizing her family. Eventually, she’s vindicated in her decision once she learns about her boyfriend’s collaboration with Chadwater.

Therefore, even after Lucky plans a sting operation to get the upper hand on Chadwater with Max’s help, she also devises a second plan. Once the Dars have the mayor in their pocket, they turn his attention to Max. Even though it’s not the arrest the mayor wanted, apprehending a major money laundering player in the city will do wonders for his career. The evidence is already all around them. Fortunately, Lucky already knows the lawyer who has the casino-owner’s power of attorney. Thus, she uses her existing connection with Danya and the threat of violence to get him to transfer Max’s assets to her. Consequently, while Max goes to prison, Lucky, Mir, and Raj become the new owners of the casino, in charge of their own money laundering. As for Seven, Lucky refuses to play any sick games with her and allows her to live her life of luxury away from her father, bringing little change to her life.
