In their journey, they stumble across several eye-catching locations that play a prominent role within the narrative—for instance, the Grand Marina Hotel and the BLVD Nightclub. The former is the hotel the couple booked for their wedding night, and the latter is where Koyal’s friend, Kanika, works as a DJ. The two locales help flesh out the central characters in a meaningful way while also building a more authentic setting.
BLVD is a Fictional Nightclub With No Connections to Real-Life Establishments
BLVD in ‘Dhoom Dhaam’ is a fictional nightclub crafted by scriptwriters Aarsh Vora, Aditya Dhar, and Rishab Seth. It is a high-end club set in the heart of Mumbai where Veer and Koyal meet up with the latter’s friend, Kanika. With the thugs on their tail, the newly married couple are desperate to find out what happened to Charlie. However, its whereabouts are linked to the gift bags bought for the wedding. During her bachelorette night, Koyal lost track of the bags, and it landed in different hands. Some of the bags went to Kanika, who is a DJ at the BLVD nightclub. Therefore, Veer and Koyal track her down, hoping she can shed more light on where the bags might be. As such, they have no option but to enter the glitzy interiors of the club in their tattered wedding attire.
‘Dhoom Dhaam’ is mainly set in the streets of Mumbai, and the film’s events take place during the night hours. The club’s inclusion helps build a sense of connection to the city’s nightlife and its reputation as an entertainment center. It plays a specific role within the narrative, highlighting the clash between the traditional views of society as opposed to the modern way of thinking. These ideas are exemplified in the little rant Koyal has outside BLVD, where she angrily explains the pressures of being a woman in a repressed culture where duty and responsibility are more important than listening to personal desires and ambition. The club makes an important impression within the story, primarily via the numerous action scenes that take place inside. However, it remains a fictional establishment drawn from the imagination of the writers.
Grand Marina: A Majestic Hotel Divorced From Reality
The Grand Marina Hotel in ‘Dhoom Dhaam’ is the place where Veer and Koyal decide to spend their wedding night. The establishment is fictional and was conceived by Aarsh Vora, Aditya Dhar, and Rishab Seth. From the outset, it appears as a five-star hotel with excellent services and amenities. However, problems arise for the two protagonists when two unknown men interrupt their wedding night to ask them about Charlie. Subsequently, Veer and Koyal have to flee from the hotel’s premises as quickly as possible. It is evident from the intricately designed interiors and the architecture of the hotel that it is an expensive place to stay. Thus, the Khuranas and Chaddas likely spent a fortune ensuring that Veer and Koyal got the best wedding experience possible.
The hotel makes a brief appearance within the narrative but plays an important part nonetheless as it kickstarts Veer and Koyal’s journey into action. It has an elegant, looming structure from the outside. During filming, the production crew likely utilized a real-life establishment to stand in for Grand Marina. Despite being fictional in origin, the hotel serves a crucial role in a narrative context.
