Created by Pablo Illanes, Netflix’s ‘Fake Profile,’ also known as ‘Perfil Falso,’ begins its third season with Angela launching phase two of her revenge plan. Though Camila and Miguel appear to be living the life of their dreams, a sudden intervention by newlyweds Oliver and Joanna stirs up conflict. Before long, the small cracks in Camila’s love story turn into giant rifts, and Camila finds herself with increasingly fewer people she can trust. To make things worse, a serial killer seems to be targeting dancers from Camila’s Golden Lips club, leaving the police utterly clueless along the way.
By the end of this season, Camila discovers that the killer is none other than Becky, Lucas’s nanny, who was actually hired by Angela. Both Oliver and Joanna also turn out to be a part of this plan, designed solely to destroy Camila from the inside out, leaving her with no choice but to rebel. On July 31, 2025, Netflix greenlit the show’s third and final season.
A Dip in Viewership Might Have Informed Netflix’s Decision to Wrap up the Show
Though season 3 of ‘Fake Profile’ has been confirmed as the show’s final entry, its cliffhanger ending leaves too many plot beats hanging in the air. Most noticeably, Camila and Miguel fall off a cliff in the ending sequence, and there seems to be no resolution to their romantic arc, or to the larger conspiracy surrounding Angela and Joaquin. Given how the show has ended its first two seasons on similarly ambiguous notes, this conclusion feels more like a tease for a potential sequel, rather than the culmination of its storytelling. However, with the season being billed as the final installment from the get-go, one has to assume that this ambiguity is an intentional choice by the creators.

When it comes to renewing shows, Netflix typically weighs the cost-to-profit ratio before giving the greenlight. In this light, it is possible that the success of ‘Fake Profile’ seasons 2 and 3 didn’t match Netflix’s expectations. Reportedly, after the breakout success of season 1, the show experienced a 55% drop in viewership with the second season. While it is possible that the show was always intended to span three seasons, that seems unlikely given how much is left unresolved. Instead, there is a chance that the creators ended on such a bold note to gauge the fans’ curiosity, as well as the demand for a sequel. It should be noted that there is no set timeline when it comes to show renewals, as, for instance, the sequel to ‘Beef’ was greenlit more than a year after its first season. As such, if the third season of ‘Fake Profile’ garners enough viewership and fan engagement, a fourth season might just be in the books.
Fake Profile Season 4 Could Confirm Camila’s Fate
If ‘Fake Profile’ is potentially renewed for a fourth season, fans might get an answer for whether Camila and Miguel survive the fall. From there, the show can resume the dramatic storylines it’s best known for, particularly regarding Camila’s relationships with the men in her life. Though David turns into a villain in the second half of this season, it is clear that he still has feelings for Camila, which is evident from how he tries to stop Joaquin from killing her. However, it is Miguel who ultimately joins Camila in the fall, perhaps proving once and for all that his love for her is unshakeable. In the scenario where they both survive, fans can expect them to reunite as lovers, and potentially realize that it is Angela who has been pulling the strings all along.

Though the season finale makes a compelling case for the police’s victory over Joaquin, the same cannot be said when it comes to Angela. In fact, we see her reunite with Eva and face essentially no consequences for being the actual mastermind behind the kidnapping. Given that Becky already told Indira the truth over a year ago, it doesn’t make sense for Angela to still be a free person, but that might change. Once the police dismantle Joaquin’s cult and get him behind bars, he may finally divulge all the secrets about Angela’s crime spree. This, in turn, can create a chain reaction that ends with Vanessa in jail as well, as Angela knows the truth about Santiago’s murder and is willing to throw just about anyone under the bus. However, with season 3 seemingly being the last, this is amongst the many hypothetical resolutions that may never see the light of day.
