Farmer Wants a Wife Season 3 Episode 4 Recap: You Can’t Pick All 5

The quest for true love continues in Fox’s ‘Farmer Wants a Wife’ as the 4 handsome leads ask themselves the hard questions. Season 3, episode 3 concluded with a cliffhanger around whether Jay will send Julia or Viviane-Lee back home after taking them both on individual dates to help him make a decision. Episode 4, titled ‘You Can’t Pick All 5,’ picks up right from where things left off – with him asking the former if she even wants to be on the farm and settle down there in the long run. Thus, this emotionally charged episode brings forth not just chemistry but also complexities as everyone gradually moves towards putting their heart on the line.

The Farmers Surprise Their Women With an Unexpected Event

Although Jay is concerned that Julia will be unable to adjust to the farm life, she reassures him that she loves every aspect of this peaceful existence. She even pinpoints that she has only ever met genuine people here before disclosing she wants to get married and have children someday, so this environment is the most suitable. With this worry cleared up, Jay then wonders if Viviane-Lee is ready to settle down, considering she has never really dated, let alone been in a long-term relationship. Jay knows she has been focused on her career, so he is honest with her, expressing his feeling that there is something – a spark – missing between them despite their having a good connection. As Julia learns of his choice to eliminate Viviane-Lee, she gets emotional before admitting she remains hopeful because everything happens for a reason.

Meanwhile, on Matt’s farm, the vibe is tense as Halleh has been missing since morning. This raises suspicions among the ladies as they wonder if she has sneaked away to be with the former. While Jordyn hopes this is not the case, Rachel can’t help but recognize her trust issues as she waits to find out what is going on. However, things are different on John’s farm as he reflects that he does not believe in love at first sight, yet he can’t let any of his women go even though he knows he can’t make all 4 his wives. Although he has chemistry with Samantha, he feels it may be getting in his way to get to know the other girls, and he is willing to work on it. The focus then shifts back to Jay’s farm, where his remaining women get ready to assist him in a chore – loading the hay. It is during this activity that T’yana puts her best foot forward to get his attention, shortly following which Jay discloses that he likes her energy and perspectives.

Jay is thrilled to learn more about T’yana, and as both of them continue to hold genuine conversations, Karina notes she has possibly jeopardized her chance to build a connection with him. That’s because she believes T’yana exhausts the conversations, which has even resulted in significant tension in the house. Hence, she wants one-on-one time with Jay to hopefully get reassurance that she is still in the running to be his perfect match. Later on, Colton is the first to surprise the girls by telling them they will be heading to Tennessee for a bit of dancing in the evening. He even divulges that they will be meeting all the other participants, too, meaning all farmers and all women will be in one place. Each farmer breaks the news one by one, leaving everyone excited. It is then that Kaylee admits that although she feels good about her bond with John, she also sees sparks between him and Samantha, so she can’t wait to see how the night will unfold.

Heartfelt Confessions and a Surprising Visit Brings Clarity to the Farmers

While the farmers catch up among themselves upon reaching the barn in Tennessee, the ladies share their experiences. Host Kimberly Williams-Paisley even brings her husband, musician Brad Paisley, to steer the farmers in the right direction since they also started with a city girl-country boy dynamic. When Matt reveals that he has still not sent anyone home, Brad bluntly points out that he cannot keep all five of them around and keep leading them on. He asks the farmers to pay attention when they feel nervous around someone because they are more likely to be the one. After Brad wishes them good luck and bids goodbye, Jay opens up about his magical date with Grace to the guys, adding that there is no drama on his farm. However, the girls do not share the same sentiment since T’yana admits to feeling uncomfortable and isolated, whereas Julia and Karina believe she hinders their connection with him and raises tensions.

Meanwhile, Colton divulges that he kissed Bailee twice and Keeley once on their first date. He expresses his wish to kiss the latter once more but adds that he also wants to get to know Zoe better since he feels they might have a lot in common. Luckily, even though he doesn’t know it yet, she thinks the same and believes that her and Colton’s personalities are also quite similar. She wants to spend quality time with him, but things just haven’t aligned for them. John tells the farmers that Samantha is totally different because, unlike other girls, she is not trying to win him over. Samantha can also feel the sparks flying, but she makes it clear before Kimberley and Halleh that she needs more time to be 100% sure if she and John have a future together. She emphasizes that if she feels he is not her person, she will not hesitate to leave.

Unlike the others, Matt explains there has been some drama on his farm regarding Halleh because she left early in the morning, and the ladies assumed she was with him. Halleh further explains the situation to Kimberley and Samantha. She reveals that she was journaling while looking at the beautiful sunrise. However, this has led to a misunderstanding, and Matt wants to set the records straight with the ladies. Rachel is unwilling to accept this because she feels something is not adding up and hopes to see some honesty from him. Later on, Kimberley gives everyone yet another surprise at the barn dance by introducing everyone to ‘Farmer Wants a Wife’ season 2 couple Mitchell and Sydney. While Mitchell tells them to just follow their heart, the latter asks them to open up and have conversations about whatever they might have in their minds.

Emotions Run High as the Night Takes an Unexpected Turn

Host Kimberley subsequently tells the farmers that they will have to select someone from their group for their next solo date by the night’s end. While Alexandra hopes to get this date with Matt, T’yana is excited because her intuition is telling her she may be the next pick. Claire then admits she is looking forward to seeing John in a free environment since it will help her see if they really have a connection or not. As the dance commences, Samantha expresses to John that she is anxious, but refuses to give him the reason behind it around the other girls. Simultaneously, as Bailee and Colton immerse themselves in the dance, they end up sharing a passionate kiss, which really hurts Hope’s feelings. Then, when Samantha watches Lily and John connect from afar, she states she will never chase someone. Meanwhile, Matt takes a step back from the dance floor because the suspicions of the girls are weighing down on him.

Matt decides to talk it out with his group of women in private because he wants to ensure they trust him. Rachel asks him outright about what really happened, and he reiterates that he was not even with Halle that morning. That’s when the latter breaks her silence and states that she is hurt by their rude assumptions and does not care if they want to be friends anymore. While some accept this explanation, Rachel is still reluctant because the story does not make sense to her. Matt notes that may have some trust issues, which is making it harder for her to put her faith in him. Meanwhile, T’yana gets emotional about feeling isolated, and on Sydney’s advice, she decides to speak with the ladies. When she asks them why she is feeling this energy, Grace replies to her upfront despite not usually being confrontational.

Grace points out one of T’yana’s earlier comments when she said that none of the girls would make it to the finals. This frustrated Grace because she felt like she was in a game, and it made her feel not to be friends with T’yana anymore. Julia points out the jab she once took against her by calling her a “h*e” and says that it was not nice. T’yana quickly apologizes for the comment, but Julia adds that she talks more during dinners while the rest of them end up going quiet. T’yana tries to justify that she joked about her comment toward Julia, but she has just realized that they are not so close. She emphasizes that she does not want to act like this toward any of them, but Julia declares that she does not wish to continue this conversation.

Vulnerable Conversations and Farewells Pave a New Path For the Farmers

The entire conversation takes a toll on Grace, who gets emotional when she thinks that T’yana may call her “a mean girl” before Jay. The producer advises her to speak with him because she needs reassurance. Meanwhile, Samantha tells Sydney that she feels the pressure is taking a toll on her and that she will hopefully get a clearer picture once she speaks with John. As Rachel watches Matt and Halleh dancing, her belief that something happened between them becomes deep-rooted. She seeks out Matt for a conversation and honestly expresses that she is doubtful and no longer sees herself staying back at the farm. He states that dating so many girls is really hard for him. Rachel’s decision is completely unexpected to Matt, and he opens up about feeling a little hurt.

As Rachel bids goodbye to the ladies, Matt says in his confessional that he wants to make sure the girls trust him. This is because someday, one of them may potentially become his wife. Grace is concerned about how Jay will think about her after what went down with T’yana. She notes that Jay is a good listener and can tell when she is upset. They move away from the dance floor to speak uninterrupted about what is bothering Grace. She finally reveals the comment that T’yana had made after their first date. Without missing a beat, Jay reassures her about not letting these words get to her head because that date is really special to him. He adds that no one else can dictate his feelings and jokes to lighten her mood. The duo shares a loving kiss at the end of their conversation and returns to the barn dance.

As the night unfolds, Matt and Jordyn seem to be enjoying each other’s company more and more. In a shocking turn of events, Samantha says to Halleh that she wants to go home. She is sad because she loves so many things about John, but she does not feel they are on the same page. Halleh advises her to ensure that she does not regret this decision, and Samantha states that whatever is meant to be will happen regardless. Samantha feels she needs to speak to John since she is unsure if she is making the right decision. With major revelations about to unfold by the end of the barn dance, we are beyond thrilled to watch which decisions will shape their future.
