Love is in the air in season 3 of Fox’s ‘Farmer Wants a Wife,’ and things have progressed to such an extent that it is now time for the potential couples to bring in their families. Episode 9, titled ‘Meet the Families Part 1′, delivers one of the most heartfelt and revealing moments in the farmers’ journey so far. In this chapter, each of them is taking a major step forward to meet the parents of their final two ladies. It is a chance for them to dig deeper and discover if they are meant to be together. The farmers are also opening their world and introducing it to their loved ones. The episode commences as they get ready to meet the family of one of their ladies and then spend some alone time to visualize their future.
Family Meetings Help Farmers Paint a Clearer Picture of Their Connections
The focus is first on John’s farm, where he reveals that he really likes both Lily and Claire. While the farmer and the latter are fairly different from one another, he has fostered a connection with the former from the beginning. He feels Lily possesses the qualities to be a good partner and mother. Lily cautions that although her mother and sisters are easygoing, her father, Dave, analyzes everything. In her confessional, she discloses that her father has not been impressed with any of her former partners. As her family arrives on the farm, they start indulging in conversations where the duo reveals they have been having an interesting time. John’s parents are not present, which prompts his five siblings to step in and acquaint themselves with Lily’s family.
Lily’s sister, Lydia, is quite impressed by the siblings since they are all welcoming and have a close bond. After Lily and John’s siblings excuse themselves, Dave is concerned about the farmer’s intentions towards his daughter. Meanwhile, Jay and Grace are getting ready to meet each other’s parents. Jay notes that he and Karina have a lot in common, and she is quite genuine. Similarly, Grace has a pure soul, and he loves that she is a woman of faith. However, she has never been out of her state, which raises concerns for Jay about whether she is ready to move to the farm. Jay’s parents, John and Latonya, and his sister arrive first, and are soon followed by Grace’s mother and best friend, Angie and Paige. During their conversation, Latonya observes that Angie is a genuine person.
In the meantime, John’s siblings are spending their time getting to know Lily. His brother, Luke, informs her about their love for children and asks her if she wants any in the future. She promptly replies about her wish to do so, and reveals she wants her children’s father to raise them with discipline, just like her parents did. John’s brother, Tim, inquires about her time on the farm. She informs him that she has been enjoying her life here. Lily observes that John’s family is quite similar to hers, and she is curious to see how he interacts with her family. Dave gets straight to the point and asks him if they had any disagreements. John reveals that they never had any and adds that he and Lily possess common morals and values.
As Conversations Unfold, Some Hard Questions Are Also Asked
When Lily’s mother inquires about his career, John divulges that he wants to finish law school, move to a larger farm, and start a family. However, Dave expresses his concern about whether he is going to be able to take care of Lily and their family. After a momentary pause, he reassures them that he indeed can do so since he is inspired by his father, who has always been selfless and has taken care of them. The farmer is happy to realize they all share the same outlook on life. On the other hand, Jay is nervous to speak with Angie since Grace greatly values her opinion. When she asks him what about Grace brought them so far, he confesses to their great chemistry and her sweet demeanor. Upon expressing his concern about her move to the farm, Angie reassures him that she is going to want to move.
Meanwhile, Grace is speaking with Jay’s parents and reveals to his mother that she is also a woman of faith. However, Latonya is concerned to learn about her issues with codependency on her mom before she moved out. Upon asking her family about John, she is delighted to hear that they like him. What makes her happier is the fact that her father is impressed with how mature he is. Similarly, John’s siblings tell him that the duo has the same vision of raising their children. Tim further adds that Lily is precisely what he is looking for. On the other hand, Grace is beyond happy to learn that her mom and best friend have not found any red flags in Jay. Although Jay’s parents have found her and her family to be genuine, Latonya expresses her concern about Grace’s codependency on Angie.
Jay is aware that his family is going to support Grace if she decides to move to the farm. However, he feels the need to have a deeper conversation with her because the move to Alabama may be tough for her. After bidding their parents goodbye, Jay and Grace are spending their final alone moment. Jay quickly raises the concern Latonya has put forward about her codependency. She reassures him that she has been growing as a person since moving out, and she can now make her own decisions. After hearing her loved ones’ thoughts on him, he confesses that he really needed to spend time with Grace. Jay can feel the connection they experienced on their first date, and still, he has a lot to think about his opportunity with Karina. The duo seals their romantic date with a loving kiss and affectionate cuddles.
Lingering Doubts Shape the Farmers’ Search for Clarity
At John’s farm, he spends some alone time with Lily before Claire’s parents visit. She informs him how she almost teared up on learning how her father was impressed with him, alongside her mother and sisters. They both agree that they have exceeded each other’s standards and proceed to share a passionate kiss. John loves how both of them have a similar outlook on life, and he surely sees a future with her. As Colton and Keeley get ready to meet each other’s parents, he finds himself at a crossroads since he likes both of his ladies. While Zoe is quite sweet and smart, he finds Keeley gorgeous and fantastic at the barn. As everything is reaching the end, he is quite nervous and wants to take it slow and figure out if they are compatible. As the parents arrive, Keeley notes that she is close with her family and values their opinion greatly.
Keeley’s parents, Scott and Amy, want someone for their daughter who will treat her the way she deserves to be treated. Colton truthfully reveals before them that he has a 2-year-old son. However, this raises questions in Amy’s mind since Keeley wants someone fully committed to her. Meanwhile, Keeley is spending time with his parents, Mike and Trina. She honestly states that her time with Colton has been great. She speaks about loving the farmlife, especially when she rode a horse on her last solo date. This prompts Mike to note that she is a great lady. Scott asks Colton directly about the mother of his child and inquires how Keeley is going to fit into the dynamic. The farmer explains to them that his son needs someone to take care of his father.
Amy expresses her concern by asking where Colton’s heart is at since his separation is still fresh. He confesses that although he is unsure about being ready for a relationship, he does visualize a future with her. He adds that this experience has been too fast, but he is trying to bring something positive out of it. This honesty placates the nervousness that started brewing in the minds of Keeley’s parents. Meanwhile, Matt and Jordyn are getting ready to meet their parents. In his confessional, the farmer states that although he and Chelsi started out slow, they have grown closer in the last few weeks. On the other hand, he had an incredible time with Jordyn, and they had a connection from the beginning. Hence, he hopes to get the clarity on his decision by meeting her family.
Honest Conversations Bring Forth a Mix of Hope and Uncertainity
As her parents, Johnny and Missy, arrive, Jordyn notes that she is close with them and can visualize her father asking some tough questions. After talking with Matt’s parents, Dana and Terri, Johnny observes that his family has a lot of love to give. Before speaking with Jordyn separately, Dana states that Matt is ready to settle down and is going to be a good father. She asks Jordyn about her experience on the farm. The latter reveals that she is two years older than Marr and ready to marry and have a family. However, she truthfully mentions that although she and Matt have a fantastic friendship, she is yet to know if it is more than that. On the other hand, Johnny directly asks Matt about his intentions with Jordyn. The farmer answers that he wants to take the next step in his life.
Johnny expresses that Jordyn has spent her life in her music and asks if Matt can handle it. Matt hopes to do so, but it raises his concern since he doesn’t want her to stop singing. Meanwhile, Colton asks about his parents’ opinion on Keeley. Mike states that she is a great person who really enjoys the farm lifestyle. However, Amy expresses concern to Keeley, noting that Colton is not ready to be married anytime soon. She further adds that time may be of the essence in this factor. However, she reassures her parents, stating she has confidence in god’s plan. Although Amy feels they have much in common, she worries about Keeley being heartbroken if it doesn’t work out. The focus moves on Matt, who is now eagerly learning what his parents think about Jordyn.
Terri reveals that Jordyn is a great individual and is ready to have a family. Upon a question from his father, he expresses his concern about her music career, although she loves her life on the farm. His parents point out that Jordyn found him to be quiet and urges him to be open with his feelings. Meanwhile, Jordyn’s parents let her know that Matt is a nice person. She mentions how he is pretty reserved. Jordyn states she will not make the first move since her parents taught her that a man always pursues the woman. She is ready to see if their connection can reach the next level. After the departure of their parents, Jordyn and Matt are spending some time together. Although the farmer has connected with her, he is concerned whether she can continue her country music if she moves to the farm.
Vulnerable Exchanges Reveal What the Cast Truly Desire From a PArtner
When Jordyn asks Matt about his thoughts, he reveals his apprehension about her music career. She reassures him, saying she can see herself on the farm and can even be a music teacher here. She further adds that she wants to raise her family in a place like this. However, she voices her concern about feeling that Matt views her as a friend. He confesses that he has always been comfortable with her; hence, he used the time to decide about the others instead of taking her out on a date. Jordyn is left shocked by this revelation and decides to sing a song she has been working on for a while. The farmer shares in his confessional how much he likes her and wants to enjoy their moment before meeting Chelsi’s parents. Meanwhile, Keeley intends to discover Colton’s feelings since her mother is concerned about him.
Keeley does not waste any time and informs him that her mother feels he is not ready for a relationship. He says he is not at all concerned about her, but he wants to take it slow. Keeley agrees that she can do that, but eventually wants to be a wife and a mom. The farmer is quite overwhelmed with so many thoughts in his head. Although he does not know what he is going to do after meeting Zoe’s family, he does want to enjoy his moment with Keeley. He likes her very much and does visualize a future with her. As their date comes to an end, Colton and Keeley share a romantic kiss. It is now time for the farmers to prepare themselves for their next meeting with their other ladies’ parents to see where their destiny is going to ultimately lead them.
