Gene Fallaize is making a mark in the realm of horror! The filmmaker has been attached as the director of Shy Bairn Films’ ‘Springwaite.’ The movie’s filming will start in England this September. Gene is helming the film based on a screenplay by Rod Glenn and Kathryn Sabourn.
The premise of ‘Springwaite’ is a combination of horror and suspense with relationship drama, offering a captivating storyline set against the appealing backdrop of the Lake District. The plot follows a couple who decide to go on a vacation to the region in an attempt to reignite the spark in their marriage. However, their journey takes an unexpected turn as they stumble upon a rural community that harbors a secret.
Screenwriters Glenn and Sabourn lead the cast with Ian Whyte (‘Alien vs. Predator’). With an estimated budget of £1,000,000, the film aims to deliver high-quality production value in true indie fashion. Some pictures shared during the location scouting feature Glenn and Sabourn in the county of Cumbria in North West England, specifically around the Ullswater Lake and the towns of Ambleside and Kendal.
Fallaize recently helmed Shy Bairn Films’ ‘Control,’ an action-thriller shot in London, starring Kevin Spacey. The production company expressed their excitement regarding Fallaize’s involvement in a recent Facebook post, stating, “We are delighted to announce that the fantastic Gene Fallaize is attached to direct ‘Springwaite.’ Gene’s latest film, ‘Control,’ starring Kevin Spacey, recently had its London premiere and will begin a theatrical release next year. Welcome aboard, Gene; we are excited to work with you.”
In addition to writing and directing ‘Control,’ Fallaize’s involvement in ‘Springwaite’ comes on the heels of his work on ‘Cain Hill,’ another film that utilizes the classic “cabin in the woods” trope of the horror genre. Additionally, the director is known for his work on a similar short film, titled ‘The Woods of Daemar,’ and the fan-made film, ‘Superman: Requiem.’ Fallaize’s slate of upcoming projects includes several films as he is set to write and direct thriller movies such as ‘The Beast of Jersey,’ ‘Nightmares,’ and ‘Venus.’
‘Control’ cinematographer Jamie Walker will shoot ‘Springwaite.’ The stunning landscapes of the Lake District are expected to play a crucial part in the film’s narrative. The tranquil scenery of the Lake District provides a stark contrast to the suspenseful elements of the story and enhances the overall atmosphere of each project shot on the site, which includes Tom Cruise’s action spectacle ‘Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One’ and the historical drama series ‘Britannia.’ Some of the upcoming productions slated to shoot in England include Cédric Nicolas-Troyan’s ‘Blake & Mortimer: The Yellow M’ and Netflix’s ‘The Witness.’
