While fans of reality television might remember Geoffrey Ian Paschel from TLC’s ’90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days’ season 4, he has since also featured in Netflix’s ‘Worst Ex Ever’ season 2. He is the subject of an episode titled ‘Preimetime Predator,’ which delves into his alleged history of domestic violence and the way he was eventually convicted of a June 8, 2019, incident. The date of the ordeal is notable because he filmed for the relationship series in July 2019, months after first coming across his Russian girlfriend, Varya Malina, online in January of the same year.
Geoffrey Paschel Has a Checkered Past With an Extensive Rap Sheet
Born on September 12, 1977, in Knoxville, Tennessee, Geoffrey Ian Paschel reportedly was just a young boy when he realized he did not want to follow a traditional career path. He managed to publicly establish himself as an aspiring actor, a self-employed professional house flipper, and the owner of several rental properties by the late 2010s. However, his life behind closed doors was different, especially as it was riddled with allegations of domestic abuse, more than a few failed relationships, and run-ins with the law since he was 19.

According to records, Geoffrey was only 18 when he married for the first time, but the union with his high school sweetheart ended in an annulment within months. He subsequently met a woman named Sabrina Grigsby at a Halloween party in 1996. They had a whirlwind romance that culminated in their marriage less than 2 years later, on April 1, 1998. The couple welcomed 2 adorable sons – Paxron and Dakota – in the years that followed, all the while also facing hard times because the family man often got into trouble with the law. His first arrest was reportedly for possession of a drug with the intent to sell in 1997, for which he was handed down over 11 months in prison after he pleaded guilty.
Geoffrey was then convicted on charges of larceny and theft under $500 in 2000, which he followed with another arrest in the summer for possession of cocaine, marijuana, $15,000, and a gun. He pleaded guilty to related counts in federal court on July 13, 2001 and received a 30-month sentence. Yet, he was released after serving around 2 years in 2003. It was in 2006 that he and Sabrina reportedly divorced after 8 years of marriage, which is the same year he was charged with “battery touch or strike” in 2006 in Florida. As the years passed, he had two other failed marriages — Allison Moon (2006-2013) and Brittany Paschel (2015-2017) — and a larceny conviction for stealing from Home Depot in 2013.
Geoffrey Paschel Hid His Past From His Future Fiancée Before Ultimately Assaulting Her
Despite his many romantic experiences not panning out, Geoffrey did not give up, believing there was someone out there for him, and that’s how he met Kristen Wilson Chapman. The duo had matched on a dating app in late 2017, not long after which he allegedly told her he had custody of the 2 sons – Cayvan and Kazhem – he shared with his then-estranged wife, Brittany. According to the aforementioned original, he did not tell her anything else about his history, so she believed he was a straight-and-narrow man who was heading towards his first divorce. She claims she only began suspecting something was amiss when she saw 2 teenagers in his living room, whom she later learned were his sons from his second of four marriages.

Kristen had no idea the teenagers were actually living in Geoffrey’s basement at the time, driving her to finally look him up and uncover not only his criminal past but also the accusations against him. She found out his ex-wives had made many allegations of child neglect and domestic abuse over the years, yet she admitted in the show that she ignored all the red flags as she was in love. However, she claims everything changed after her boyfriend tragically lost his youngest son, Kazhem, at the age of 13 months in March 2018, as he started becoming more and more volatile.
As per Kristen’s account in the production, Geoffrey had allegedly started abusing and isolating her, but she continued to make excuses for her behavior out of what she believed was love. Therefore, when he got down on one knee while they were visiting his family in Destin, Florida, in March 2019, she said yes without hesitation. Little did she know things would take a turn for the worse upon their return to Tennessee and her moving in with him, as she was assaulted in June. The attack was so bad she knew she had to get away, so she found a way and called the police, too.

According to Kristen’s statements, when she and Geoffrey had returned to his home just outside of Knoxville from dinner with friends on the evening of June 8, 2019, everything seemed okay. She subsequently decided to take their dog out for a walk, only to be attacked the moment she stepped back inside. She has always maintained she had no idea what switched in those few minutes. What followed was a harrowing series of events, including him bashing her head on the floor, taking her phone so she couldn’t call for help, and ultimately dragging her upstairs by her hair.

Geoffrey then ordered Kristen to clean up and go to bed, essentially indicating she was not to leave him or the residence in any capacity. Nevertheless, despite being in excruciating pain, she kept herself awake as she was not only afraid of missing an opportunity to escape but also of having a concussion. So, when her fiancé was fast asleep, she ran to a neighbor’s place and urged them to call 911, to which officials responded within minutes – at 3 am. While he initially tried to maintain his innocence, claiming she had just hit her head on a door, he was taken into custody as the blood spatter evidence clearly indicated otherwise. Geoffrey was granted bail on June 10, a month after which he went to Russia to shoot for ’90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days’ season 4, alongside his girlfriend, Varya Malina.
While he was filming the reality show, Kristen was securing a protective order against him, working with authorities to ensure justice, and trying to ignore the indication that he had allegedly been unfaithful. He was eventually arrested on charges of aggravated kidnapping, domestic assault, and interference with emergency communications on December 10, 2019. Geoffrey later rejected a plea deal and maintained his innocence in several interviews over the ensuing 2 years, a stance he upheld even after his trial began on October 6, 2021. In the end, though, with Kristen’s testimony and the evidence from the scene, the jury deliberated for just a few hours before finding him guilty on October 7. He was consequently sentenced to 18 years in prison on February 3, 2022, with the judge going 2 years over the prosecution’s recommendation after hearing impact statements. His ex-wife, Allison Moon, also gave one.

We should mention that Varya stood by Geoffrey throughout his trial, and it appears as if she continues to support him to this day. It’s also imperative to note that he has since filed several appeals in the hopes of getting his conviction overturned or having his sentence reduced, but to no avail. His most recent attempt was in January 2026, which is ongoing. Thus, today, at age 48, he is incarcerated at the medium-maximum security Trousdale Turner Correctional Facility in Hartsville, Tennessee, where he is expected to remain until at least December 2037.
